Have heard a couple good stories on Cross.

Personally he recruited us (BBN) back in our heyday.

We eventually signed with Clear Channel for a Monday night, Sunday morning, and pregame deal.

Chris was living at the Campbell House back then.

@2581 what a terrible and cowardly anonymous drive by.

You would receive much more credibility and respect if you would have stated your obvious relationship to Chris, the show, or the station along with that comment.

The guy asked a simple question: what happened to Chris Cross? There are 35+ "answers" and not one person came even close to answering the question. Instead, half of you complained about what a terrible show "The Sports Huddle" is; and a bunch more posted idiotic attempts at humor... This entire thread is an example of Big Blue Ignorance...

Haha, that goof, what a blast from the past when I lived in Lex in the late 90's/early aughts that show was horrifically bad.

"well moron why'd ya listen?!?!"

again, look at the years....internet was in its infancy, getting good info on your 1200 dialup AOL account was kind of shaky. blogs, message boards, podcasts? didnt exist.

So if you were a sports/UK freak you would go with whatever was available, and that big fat northeast ignorant blowhard & his various sidekicks at 4 pm was better than nothing....marginally. My favorite story of that lug was his radio station did a contest giving away a free Subaru car....and magically his son in law was the winner. Imagine the odds!! can't believe he weaseled his way into doing UK women's BBall color work for a few seasons as well, inexcusable.

He legitimately switched his allegiance from the Red Sox to being a Yankees fan in the early 2000's. Who but him does that???

I know he has had serious health issues in recent years, but I also think he was legit shown the door at the end.

Takes me back to sports radio in the 90's. The fabulous sports babe and the Dan Patrick Show got me through a lot of time at work. But then I had to face the only option for the drive home, which was the horrible Chris Cross show. And the sad thing was that some of that time was during the Mumme scandal and I REALLY wanted to hear more information about what was going on. When I discovered satellite radio it was like mana from heaven. And possibly directly due to my bad experiences with that show I don't think I have listened to regular radio since.

Seriously though. I knew a guy who used to work for the same bunch of radio stations. He filled in a couple of times. He said Cross had absolutely no idea what he was talking about other than Chicago sports. Apparently he was a decent salesman apparently he was a decent salesman though, though.

I liked when they would talk about food. They would hangout at sports bars with Jared Lorenzen and Chris would be all like "boy o boy Mikey ya ever saw a meatball sammich like this? I mean have you ever? I sure haven't. Hey Jared! Hey Jared! Wouldya look at that lol Jared is neck deep in that sandwich. I bet he could eat 5 of those things. Jared how bout that meatball huh have you ever had a meatball that good?"

That show sucked, it was so awful it was entertaining. He had the most random group of ****** establishments advertising that he did the spots for too. The only reason to listen was to make fun of the absurdity of its awfulness.

Drew Deener sat in his lap as his protege after Alan Cutler left over being paid minimum wage, waived big blue pom poms as a UK homer for several years & then flipped to UL propaganda spreading for a paycheck

Cross for all his awfulness >>>>>>>> Deener
