Just wondering if there are any Cubbies on here. Also is there any word on the rotation for the playoffs? My personal opinion is I really like how Hendricks has been pitching at home and would like to see the veteran Lester on the road. Then we always have Arieta but I seem to like how the other two have been pitching. Will be interesting how the 1-2-3 goes then we always have Lackey number 4.

That rotation is correct and confirmed by the Cubs today. Games 1 and 2 in Chicago. 3 and 4 on the road to the Wild Card winner, then back home for game 5 (if necessary.)

The Cubs REALLY need a win by Lester to erase fears of a collapse.

I agree. He is a postseason vet should be right guy for the job. Have they cut the roster down to 25 yet?

I'm really hoping Arrieta gets out of by his standards a slump in the second half of the season. If he does look out. With the way Hendricks has pitched the last half of the season that's essentially three aces in the rotation right there.

I hope they do well. I fear they will collapse again though. No reason to think otherwise until proven wrong

I've been a die-hard Royals fan my entire life. Never been a gigantic Cubs fan but I do root for them and will be rooting this year so as to keep the World Series trophy in the midwest again and away from the coasts! I'll be happy if the Cubs make the WS this year.

If the Giants and MadBum get past the Mets tonight, all bets are off. They know how to win in October. Ask any royals fan.

Man, I love the playoffs. Also, really really hope the Blue Jays get knocked out right away 0-3. Can't stand 'em or their beer-throwing "fans"...Go Cubs!

Millard North alum Conor Gillaspie with the 3-Run-HR dagger @ Mets. Kind of like Gordon with the Royals last year against Mets closer Jeurys Familia--Nebraskans making a name for themselves. With MadBum on the hill, game was over the second it left the bat. This is the worst possible opponent for the Cubs.

You say that now, but the Cubs had a 2-5 against the Mets this year vs. 4-3 vs. Giants.
For me, all records get thrown out of the window. The Giants know how to win in October. I think this series goes 3-2. Toss Up.

That sounds like an excuse for losing.
How is saying the Giants know how win in October an excuse for losing? What I'm saying is don't be surprised if the series goes to 5. That said, I will be happy to eat my crow if I'm wrong. The Cubbies have waited way too damn long.

White Sox fan here.

I'm actually pulling for the Cubbies this year. My buddy back in Illinois is one of Millions of Long-Suffering Cubs fans and I hope this is their year. 1 CENTURY is too long for anyone to go without a Title.

And besides, the longer Nebraska goes without winning even a conference Title, the more I can empathize with their plight.

Completely agree! I was just telling a buddy of mine whose a GIANTS fan the same thing. I would hate for us to potentially see Bumgardner twice.
I'm not sure it's possible in this case since he pitched the wildcard game.

I think the first game he could pitch would be game three. No way they'd run him out twice in this series, right?

The rotation actually sets up quite nicely with Jake going in game three against Bumgardner. If he gets in a groove that could be a winnable 1-0, 2-1 type game which would destroy the Giants. As where otherwise it would probably be a throw away game with a standard 3rd guy against Bum

Game 1 is huge. Lester needs to throw a hell of a game and take game 1. If Bumgarner gets a chance to get the series lead look out.

What a douche

Blow me. Any fanbase that treats a person like that loser fanbase treated Steve Bartman, deserves to go O-Fer for the remainder of time. I hope they get swept every series they play in until they tear down Wrigley and turn the grounds into a goat farm. Get it? "Goat" farm.

Can you not read? I don't give a crap about either team. I'm a Royals fan. I no doubt would be rooting for the Cubs to win, had that fanbase not shown their true colors with Bartman. Now I hope every starter and reliever throws their arm out during the post-season.

Either way sore about not making the playoffs. Surprised you still know there was baseball going on.

Beer throwing fans bother you, but fans that destroy a person's life are OK???

Can you be any more dense? That's twice that you missed the point. This has absolutely nothing to do with baseball.

Although I will say that the Royals won just last year, and played in the WS the previous year, which is further than the Cubs will get. They'll blow it like they always do. Karma..

Total douche. Bob Mould is embarrassed by your screen name.

Bob Mould would be proud to support someone who is completely opposed to how an entire city treated one of their own.

It doesn't matter. It was written in sanskrit many centuries ago that the Cubs will blow it...again.

Hmmm seems management didn't build the Royals for the present and the future... See also Theo.

What "true colors" are you referring to? I would suggest that fans in nearly every ballpark would give a guy grief for reaching over the wall for a playable ball. After time, a majority of fans came to the conclusion that they too could have fallen victim to this same mistake and had moved on. The media kept it going, but also, Bartman kept it going a bit by going into hiding.

He needed a good PR person to give him some advice because he did exactly the opposite of what one should do in that situation. He should have gotten on some local news shows, hell, even national talk shows to humanize what he did, reiterate how much of a Cubs fan he was and the story would have died.

I don't blame him for the treatment he received, but he really could have done a few things differently after they happened to minimize the blow. Speaking of, I think he's still living in the burbs of Chicago.

If anything, the Bartman incident simply highlighted just how cursed the franchise has been.

It wasn't Bartman's fault they couldn't close out a series. The term 'curse' is used by fans that can't accept the ineptitude of their favorite franchise.
