Can you not read? I don't give a crap about either team. I'm a Royals fan. I no doubt would be rooting for the Cubs to win, had that fanbase not shown their true colors with Bartman. Now I hope every starter and reliever throws their arm out during the post-season.
What "true colors" are you referring to? I would suggest that fans in nearly every ballpark would give a guy grief for reaching over the wall for a playable ball. After time, a majority of fans came to the conclusion that they too could have fallen victim to this same mistake and had moved on. The media kept it going, but also, Bartman kept it going a bit by going into hiding.
He needed a good PR person to give him some advice because he did exactly the opposite of what one should do in that situation. He should have gotten on some local news shows, hell, even national talk shows to humanize what he did, reiterate how much of a Cubs fan he was and the story would have died.
I don't blame him for the treatment he received, but he really could have done a few things differently after they happened to minimize the blow. Speaking of, I think he's still living in the burbs of Chicago.
