Also the birthday (145th) of the great German mathematician Max Dehn. He was Hilbert’s student at the time Hilbert was working on the foundations of geometry (Euclid was/is not as rigorous as it should be) and he did very great work in geometry. May I recommend to the board the section on his time at Black Mountain College in this link? A true educator.
