OT: Does anyone know how to eliminate

the annoying commercials that 'pop-up' on the right side ? My laptop is slow enough without that crap adding to my stress and I'm in no position to purchase a new one at the moment

IASOONER there should be a way to block popups on the internet browser you are using. Should be under internet browser settings.
Puter running slow, if you don't defrag or clean up internet files it can slow it down. Another way to speed up the puter is to close any programs that are open and running that you are not using. Those are usually located at the bottom right on the task bar.
All I can help with unless I am there showing how to do it.

Veritas59's adblock add-on is really nice if you're using Chrome and works for this exact issue you're wanting to address.

I will also recommend the Chrome add-on of "Disable HTML5 Autoplay." This will keep embedded videos from automatically playing when you visit websites. I hate videos that automatically play on my news sites and stuff. I sometimes play music loud and forget to turn the speakers down, go to a website, and BLAM! Some loud video scares the hell out of me.

If all else fails. What I feel like doing to mine sometimes. I usually just use my samsung tablet or my ipad. My laptop hates me.

I use Ad Block on Mozilla on my laptop.It definitely helps.

In addition to AdBlock, I also use Ghostery. The two of them together take care of most issues.
