DevilDJ I totally agree. And I don't say this as a dis to K, but because of how much I admire him. I believe he is a great man. But, to quote Uncle Ben, " With great power comes great responsibility." Someone needed to stand up for what was right, whether those kids were guilty or innocent. A lot of people abused their power. And someone needed to stand up and tell them to shut up and sit down.
I don't know about that...
I'm all for people using their status for noble purposes beyond their actual expertise, like entertainers endorsing charities and all, but there's a limit. There's no reason to think K was any more knowledgeable about the truth than the 88, and sometimes celebrities abuse that same status and should have shut up. There was at least a
little time between the breaking news of rape charges and when it should have been abundantly clear that they were bogus.
Look at the flak K caught for continuing to have reservations about how the JoPa situation was handled, too. Opinions on JoPa have recovered a bit since, but as far as PR is concerned, that was a gamble for K to express that.
Oh, hey, and since you brought up JoPa, Dattier, you do know you just contradicted yourself, right? Yeah, yeah, I know. It's another example of where an influential coach could have stepped out, spoken up, and made a positive difference. I know. It's just not so cut-and-dry, and where that's the case, I'm inclined to cut people some slack.
