I know....it's not a Penguins thread....

The eggs are due to hatch tomorrow and we just got around 4 inches of snow. I'll keep you updated...

amen, preach it brother!!
My Penguin friends: Even though it is certainly disingenuous to ***** about an OT thread (that is at least sports related) one evening and then post one the next evening (entirely non-sports related), it would behoove us to show compassion and understanding for a menopausal female.

Plus, you should actually read the opening post.... ...or should I say.... ...the hook has been set.

I knew exactly what you were doing. I actually enjoy the Eagle Cam. The whole point is, as Beer pointed out two nights ago, the OT post on the Penguins is clearly marked as an "off topic" post and is clearly about the Pens. If you don't want o open it up, don't. I don't see the big deal, but I am sure being the altruistic person you are you will help enlighten me.

It doesn't seem so. The gestation period can very...so today was only the 'due date'.

While we're all familiar with the process for Penguins (thx to March Of The Penguins).....most of us are unfamiliar with the eagle. In this case, each of the two eggs was laid separated by three days. At times, this slight age difference can mean life or death for the younger chick as the two fight for food.

"HOW DO THE EAGLETS GET OUT OF THE EGG?

Very soon, the embryo should grow to the point that it penetrates the surrounding white sac-like membrane like the one seen when you fry an egg.

When an eaglet is ready to get out, its calling can be heard outside the shell. The eaglet will use a special egg tooth on its beak to begin pecking the first hole in the egg, called a pip.

HOW LONG WILL THE HATCHING TAKE?

Don't worry, even if you missed the first signs of hatching, you will likely have time join the hatch watch.

It can take 24 to 40 hours for the eaglets to break out of the shell completely after the first pip has appeared. The yolk is absorbed into the baby's stomach, providing the energy to keep the breakout going."

So we'll certainly have a large window between the two to see plenty. I'm most interested in the feeding process.

A double mixed..twice reversed...coded message for Frank that needs The Third Book Of Truth to decipher. Hopefully he can dig though the bunker to find it.
