Got to experience the Robotaxi four times and Cybercab three times myself this weekend in Austin. It was pretty cool to see in person.

Pros- unlike Uber, who will quote you a five minute pickup before hitting confirm, then switch it to 15, they arrive exactly when they say they will. Driving was perfect. Navigating construction, pedestrians and gameday detours was no problem. Clean, quiet rides without a stranger driving you. My 13 year old took the “driver side” (no steering wheel or pedals) in the Cybercab and loved it. Not having a local driver to narrate/give suggestions could be a con, but you can prompt Grok to do the same as you drive. Cheaper than uber as of now as well.

Cons- like with FSD, parking/drop offs are rough. They are actually “too safe.” They will only pull over for drop off in a legal/safe spot, unlike a human/uber. This and parking in general still needs to be solved in all of Tesla’s use cases. Geofenced so it can’t pickup/drop off at the airport but I assume that will be lifted in the near future. Windows only go down about 2 inches which I don’t love but I guess that’s a safety feature too.

Overall they’re a much better ride than an uber. Will be interesting to see how these scale. View attachment IMG_3008.jpeg
