They lost to a 15-17 team by 40+ points. appears his team has quit on him.

Yelling and screaming work fine and dandy when you're going to the tournament every year (Coach K). Not so well when you put up sub-.500 records.

If a coach yells a lot and wins, fans will say how great he is at motivating players. If he yells a lot and loses, fans will say he's a bully who doesn't connect with player. If a coach is quiet and wins a lot, fans will laud his calm and cool leadership. If he's quiet and loses, fans will say he's too passive.

Wins > coaching style.

Again, you can let a player have it come off the floor/field for short period and then you move on...When you do as Frank or Bobby Knight did then it becomes a humiliation and players won't go with that.

His yelling looks horrible. Muschamps did too, before he was here. They both looked out of their minds and they might pull a Woody Hayes.
Holtz, and Coach K's yelling looked different, not just because they won. It just didn't look the same to me.

Frank and Mushchamp would lose their mind. Coack K and Saban are much more calculated. The pouting and disinterest by Martin bothered me as much or more than the yelling.

There is a big difference in the equation… At least Coach K coaches some during games. Frank simply screams at players all game and you never see him coaching. When’s the last time you saw Frank clapping like good job for his team? You don’t, it was almost like he was the person that wanted to yell more than he wanted to win.

For the "Martin needed more time" crowd, would you take Frank back at this point?

The one thing I have noticed for sure of the difference in Martin and Paris. When a player got pulled out when Frank was here, he would either glare at them or yell at them coming off the court.
Paris stops the player and coaches them in a calmer manner.
I think if Paris had all of Franks players plus add GG and maybe Hayden and Meechie through transfer, then Paris would have done a great job with those guys to go with Keyshawn, Devin, Jermaine and others. Paris just didnt have much to work with and what he got didnt have time to get to know each other. I am waiting at least three years to see if Paris works out. Its Carolina basketball, what exactly are we missing by not winning right now? We are lucky to get to the tournament once every 10 years.

This^^^^^

Embarrassing when losing.

Let it slide when winning.

Either way, unnecessary and not needed to win. Many coaches have proven that. Plenty of strong individuals in this world, both mentally and physically, who don't need to resort to screaming, cursing, and berating individuals to get results.

Appreciate his time, wish him well, but good riddance.

I guess that turnaround game against Michigan in the bowl should have kept Muschamp around 5 more years? One could sit here and post one hit wonders all day long but the Macarena does not make Los Del Rio a great band.
His time was done. Sure. Just don't trash him. He took us to a place that NO ONE ever even believed was possible. Might have been a flash in the pan, but it happened.

I really like Coach Paris, but I absolutely believe we would have been a much better team this year if we had kept FM. Firing FM left Paris with a mess, and he will need several years to rebuild.
I believe we all agree, even the posters that don't like Martin. The firing and hiring wasn't about this year and which one would have a better record this year.

Bob Knight one 3 National titles at Indiana during the Wooden era, and was a great coach, so yes the players listened. Martin should not be in the same converstion with Bob Knight.

The players who played for Frank seemed to be loyal to him...The problem was all those top notch players from SC and nearby who wouldn't set foot on USC's campus because of Frank's antics.
Yeah, it was dumbfounding that he could not recruit any the top notch players after a Final Four. But now, in retrospect, it is totally understandable.
