I haven't seen anyone counter the notion that there is only one burger-related religion.
White Castle slider with Egg is the GOAT fast food burger.

But in NJ you also have all the "white" diners all over. Jersey burger with egg? Fugettaboutit

The best Burger I’ve enjoyed is the Kobe Beef Burger at Old Homestead. There’s an awesome burger place in the le meridian hotel on on 57th Street in NYC.

Love in-n-out animal style when I goto Cali.
Love shake shack and 5 guys here on the east coast.

It is funny- INO is one of those places that I feel is living on memory. I remember the first time I had one, it was in Vegas...next 3 years- always had to make that stop. Then went to one in Arz...Again - I think a part of my head is asking me why I drove 20 miles round trip for it but we did. A couple of years ago- Cali and we did the same and again, just not what I remembered those first couple of time. But if I was out west again...I would again go out of my way to search one out.

By the way- you need to find out their off the menu items. Much better than their regular fair...

Five Guys like triple the price too. In N Out is the king not even close.

In-N-Out:
$3.45 for Double Double (2x2.0oz patty)
$2.40 for Cheeseburger (2.0 oz patty)

https://www.fastfoodmenuprices.com/in-n-out-prices/

Five Guys:
$7.69 for Cheeseburger (2x3.3oz patty)
$5.69 for Little Cheeseburger (3.3 oz patty)

https://www.fastfoodmenuprices.com/five-guys-prices/

So, 123% more cost for 65% more beef. Five Guys is definitely more expensive, and In-N-Out is a better value... but not really a better burger, imo. Going outside of the burgers themselves (which to me are comparable in taste), Five Guys fries are definitely better.

Haven't been there in a while, but back when 30 Burgers started as 25 Burgers, I felt they were better than Five Guys overall. I know as they started expanding their quality has gone down a bit, though.

Conversely, the lesser value local burger was from Otto' s on the corner of Wychoff and Stone Sts. As kids we called it the Rollburger. A small patty that was dwarfed by the hard roll from City Bakery. Inexpensive, but tiny. Great for our budget as 10 year olds.

I am in Casa Grande halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. Nice desert town. Just drove by the local In'N'Out. Open and nobody there. Now I'm afraid.

Sorry but 7am in Bergen Co NJ and Starbucks open but empty- got you beat...but then again, commute train into NYC which is usually SRO only had a few people per car...
This is seriously at “movie level” now.

I live five blocks from San Francisco's only In-'N-Out, and if I eat there five times a year, it would surprise me. It's still a sentimental, must-do stop on the drive to and from Squaw Valley, but with the proliferation of places like SmashBurger, Super Duper, Shake Shack, et.al., I must admit it's mostly a novelty at this point.

If you've never been, I recommend it unreservedly, but it suffers from "tourist exaggeration syndrome."

Zinburger is my favorite, followed by 5 Guys. Never had INO. Not impressed by Shake Shack.

I love the burgers at Arthur’s steak House and Grasshopper. Both have about four locations in Northern New Jersey , Irish pubs. Fat , juicy , 8 ounce burgers, instead of thin quarter pound, hockey pucks. Plus their potatoes are better than french fries, as they come roasted with onions and peppers
Are you talking Grasshopper Too on the border of Wayne & Lincoln Park?

That's one of the two locations, over by the Mountain View NJT station. The other Grasshopper, the original, is on Grove Ave in Cedar Grove.

I have but it's been almost 20 years. There were several of them in Austin. Was an okay burger from what I seem to recall but nothing very memorable. Then again, I usually went to Whataburger after midnight after drinking a good amount of alcohol.

Shake Shack was a bitter disappointment to me, but maybe since I tried it on the Strip I got the tourist version? In-N-Out is great for freshness, and you can eat it without feeling overstuffed afterwards, but their fries are just plain bad. Carl's Jr. does some things very well, but like some fast food places is very inconsistent. I tried Culver's for the first time on a trip to Arizona and was impressed. Good size and good quality, although not cheap. And cheese curds are a great option.

But if you don't want fries and you do it often enough that cost is a factor, In-N-Out double-doubles and a shake is just about as good as it gets.

Boro I had Culver's fish and chips last night. Delicious. I had one of their butter burgers a few weeks ago. Equally as good. Excellent franchise.

Add me to the list of disappointed In n Out customers. Went to locations in Scottsdale AZ and St George UT in the past few years. Burgers were ok, fries terrible imo. Animal style I wish I didn’t order.

I like the fries at Five Guys. Burgers are roughly equal to In n Out imo.

Krugs was a monster burger. I went medium rare which is a little on the red side for me. Cut up a hot pepper and used as a topping.

Bucket list burger I had was in San Francisco at Burger Bar...$100 Burger, with Foie Gras on top, Truffle Sauce and a Milkshake

I am certainly not a burger aficionado, so take this with a grain of salt. I thought Five Guys was just ok. In N Out Burger was marginally better, but nothing special. When I'm in Vegas, I much prefer Fatburger.

Diesel and Dukes has a pretty good burger too. And their small menu has a passable Poutine that you don't see on too many burger joint menus's. I go to the Montclair Diesel and Duke's , there are about 6 in NJ.

I always try to hit an in/out burger when i'm travelling to the west coast. It's an average burger but its a step above the chain fast food burger joints. I still think shake shack is better but a little higher price point. I happened to be in the Edison/HP area today so stopped in at White Rose System for lunch today. It's no where near the same as I remembered after drunken nights in college. I had huge buyers remorse! ha

While it smells good, I tend to more often than not feel a little sick after eating shake shack. I generally dont eat at fast food places so maybe its just my body reacting to that but who knows.

Has anyone ever gone to Heart Attack Grill in Vegas? Havent been but quite the interesting theme atmosphere. If you weigh over 350 (they'll weigh you there) you get your food free i believe. and if you dont finish your food you can get the waitress to spank (paddle) you. All burgers are by bypass amts and they have up to the octuple bypass:

Red sail- I went to white Rose last fall for lunch. Completely sober. I waxed nostalgic about how good it was. It wasn’t. Kinda awful. What happened?
