In-N-Out- kindof sucks
so does Five Guys and Shack Shack

What happens in the case of INO - it is an institution that you go to certain western cities- you have to go there.

FiveGuys/SS - they are ok but the prices got out of hand- My local tavern has hand made burgers and fries as a combo for the price of their burgers.

I go Vegas/Arizona- I am still going to a INO- going animal or some other fun thing you can do and just make it a part of the trip= but nothing really so special

Sonic also started out pretty damn good- but has become complete **** and no longer a unique chain...We came back from the St. Pete bowl by car and searched out a Sonic and loved it but now- no different than BK
In-N-Out are legit good burgers. Sure, I'm not comparing them to a Stage Left Burger, but I enjoy them and always look forward to eating there.

But there are so many better actual AZ or Vegas places to go.

I go to California often and my relatives from there come here, we all agree that Five guys is just as good.
The absolute best burger I have ever tasted is at the Old Mill in Chester, NJ. They get their beef from a local farm , grass fed, and always fresh, never frozen. Yum
Love 5 Guys (my favorite fries of any fast food joint) and In and Out. Just lost my favorite local tavern burger though, as the very old school Liberty Tavern in Woodbridge closed recently. Stage Left makes an awesome "gourmet" burger.

At least Five Guys’ Large fries was the whole bag full of fries, which is one of the best fries.

only thing greasier is anything you buy at a waffle house. It's funny though- these burger places like 5 guys/shake shack etc...all were fun and good when they first came out but have all become pretty ******. - Though, I do miss Fudruckers

I'm curious if anyone has tried Habit yet - see them popping up all over the place but I haven't heard much about them.

Watching videos of recruit Edd Guerrier today. What really stands out is his uncanny vision, cutting ability and burst after the initial LOS. Does look thicker and probably is only 5’8” ish but so was Rice …Liking him to Ibrahim from Minnesota who was virtually unstoppable in the Ciarrocca offense . The video shows plenty of top end speed and only saw him caught once or twice on longer runs.

Years ago the Liberty Tavern was great for sausage parm w/ roll on the side and an order of fries. Old school place.

I like Five Guys but it is SO overpriced. I walked into one a month ago, saw it was over $8 for a hot dog, and walked back out.

My workplace had a blind burger taste test for fun a few months ago. Everyone that participated tried burgers from McDonald's, Burger King, Five Guys, Whataburger, Cookout, the Varsity (Georgia tradition... you want to talk about grease, get the onion rings! But they are yummy...), Wendy's, and Culver's. Everyone was able to identify the McD's burger. My favorite turned out to be Cookout, which surprised me as I expected it would be the Five Guys burger.

If you want a good burger from a non chain Steve’s in Garfield.

At a bar, 8th street tavern in hoboken, get the 8th street burger with pat lafrieda meat

First In n Out burger last week in SF. Pretty solid for fast food (although it took about 15 min). Not as tasty as Culver’s in the Midwest - plus they have cheese curds

Usually got the burger, but tried the sausage parm and meatball parm sandwiches too and they were also great. A friend's band used to play there sometimes. Old school bars/taverns are underappreciated, IMO.

I used to like Fuddrucker's. Used to get them occasionally at the one on Route 22 in Union. Hadn't had it in years but on a recent road trip from Ga to NC stopped and had lunch at one in South Carolina. It was a treat.

One of my favorite burgers used to be at Zinburger at the Garden State MAll- closed during covid
The one in Edison also closed during COVID. My wife's favorite burgers; not my favorite, but they were very good. Lots of good sides, too.

Discovered Fuddrucker's probably about 35 years ago in Ft. Lauderdale, where my sister lived for awhile. Loved the one there and was psyched for the one in NB and while I liked it, I don't think the quality fully transferred up here. That can happen with expanding chains, as they once had 150 locations but are down to 80 now, as they've been bought numerous times.

Habit have clean not greasy burgers and good fries. The only hamburger joint that you can get a wheat bun. . I think better than Five guys too greasy. Fuddrucker was good.

There was a Zinburger on Rt 9 in Marlboro that never opened. They took over the space from a defunct Friday's in, as luck would have it, 2019. Did all the construction and then walked away from it. It's just recently been converted to some Tio Taco or something.

The one in Edison also became a Tio Taco - standard chain Mexican fare...

In n Out is great. My favorite burger joint is FatBurger. The only issue, their quality control is suspect. When its done right it's incredible but they seem to over cook the patties on occasion.

Love Culver’s. Also Freddy’s. In the south and west.

Culver’s and Freddy’s have Florida locations as well.

Tommy's Tavern & Tap bought all the old Zinburger locations. They changed them all to Tommy's or to the Tio Taco Tequila concept. Tommy died last year I believe. The original is in Sea Bright.

Adding to my previous post. This brings to mind the core problem
With the occasional “cannonball run to the road game / bowl game” thread here.
I can’t drive across the country without stopping at all of these places.

And they put in a Tommy's Tavern about 1/4 mile from the Tio Taco/former Zinburger location. Not particularly impressed with either.

Habit, yes, kids rate it above Five Guys, In and Out, Shake Shack.
