He was a little bit before the time I was really engaged into sports. He was entertaining on the Joe B and Denny Show. RIP.

I thought he was a good coach and did a great job but I didn’t like him then. I liked him after his coaching career was over and his true self came out. Like another poster posted he was a gentleman and a good guy. He also was a good ambassador to the game and to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
I guess that’s typical when a guy coaches for your rival. I could be wrong but I thought there was a lot of talk about his guards Minnifield and Master being so much better than our guards. I guess you should feel that way about your players. Rest In Peace Joe!

I met him once when he and Denny were doing signing at Neutral Zone years ago. Had a conversation with Hall and Crum. He couldn’t have been nicer. The conversation with those two and the one I had with Howard Schnellenberger; well I’ll never forget. All three were legends and all three were or are as nice as they could be.
