Thursday (9/25) was the birthday of the late, great, Cecil Womack. He had quite a career. He started out in a gospel group with his brothers, that was signed by Sam Cooke and called the Vallentinos. After marrying Mary Wells (the Motown star), the two formed a music publishing firm, which wrote a number of hits for Mary, as well as for several others artists. That marriage lasted until 1977. He next married Linda Cooke, the daughter of Sam Cooke. They achieved a great deal of success as Womack & Womack. To celebrate:
