My intent in that comment was to say that it would seem difficult for minority students to feel as if the establishment/conservatives cared how they felt. I am not labeling the president a racist, nor was I implying that there is a conservative or liberal monolith. Why wouldn't advocates of individual rights and small governance applaud the students' actions? Is the answer to that question the same as why labor unions are held in contempt by the right? No big government unless it's the government interfering with or limiting individuals' potential to assemble together and potentially upset the company apple cart?
You are exactly right. It seems that anytime there is a racial incident in this country-especially involving the police and a Black citizen, no matter the circumstances, the conservative establishment defaults to defending the institution and castigating the Black citizen. The ole "if they're for it, I'm against it" mantra. To hell with finding out the facts. In the case of Mizzou, few outside the campus know what has been going on there. Yet, the winguts here have already made up their minds-the Blacks are in the wrong. They even went to great lengths to try to paint Trayvon Martin as a thug because he wore a hoodie and ergo he was asking for it just as the Neanderthals used to say about women who they felt dressed provocatively and we raped. They consistently to pull out all the stops to paint Blacks as the bad guys no matter the circumstances.

If these folks had been around in the 60s, they would've sided with George Wallace, the University of Arkansas, the University of Mississippi, and the guy who wanted Rosa Parks' seat. They claim that they aren't racists. Yet their actions say otherwise. The funny thing is, they claim that it is Obama who has divided the country on racial lines.

First, the funnest thing is that you are still an idiot. Second,Travon Martin was a thug who messed with the wrong guy. Third, you are now claiming you raped women. Fourth, you have already been exposed as anti-Jewist and a racist based on your constant racial attacks on Carson,Thomas many other Black Republicans.

I don't believe that demanding the resignation of the president was the best means of achieving change though. It reminds me of the faction that wants to fire Dana now, immediately--we should all try to be patient, realize that we're in this together, and aware that no matter how flat a pancake, there is always two sides to it.

Oh, you mean things like doctoring 9-1-1 tapes so that you can shape a false narrative? Create completely new racial categories never before used so that "white" can be shoehorned into the conversation? Or maybe you were talking about doing zero investigative reporting and pushing a lie that caused riots in 2 cities over 2 separate occurrences?

Stuff like that right? Totally plausible that it's the conservatives at fault here.

Collectively, on this board, and even as a country, we need to stop this kind of thing.

I haven't been on this particular board as long as most of you, but I've noticed a few things. The most pertinent to this conversation is that whether anybody in particular identifies as conservative or liberal or independent or republican or democrat or whatever politically, that their thoughts on any particular topic can't be pigeon-holed and automatically assumed based on their chosen political identity.

There are a few exceptions. Basically for those few individuals, on any given topic, I can accurately predict roughly what they are going to say and where they are going to fall on any topic before ever reading a word they post. Unfortunately they are the most vocal and dominate in post count, but as far as number of posters is concerned they are not in the majority.

We will never get anywhere in any conversation by painting with such a broad brush. As another poster said, no matter how thin, there is always 2 sides to a pancake, and the vast majority of the posters on here realize that and we are doing everybody a disservice by not realizing that.

Along those same lines, the story of the child being murdered by two police officers opening fire while the child was sitting in the front seat of his father's SUV is sickening. Here's the part where it will trip up several on this board. The two police officers were black and the child was white.

It made the national news too ... WVPATX should be thrilled, but of course he will ignore it because it doesn't fit his chosen rhetoric
