He's 40, and he would still beat anyone in his division in boxing. Does that make the rest of boxing irrelevant too? Asking for a friend.
It's hilarious what the Conor haters will say. A 40 year old in shape McGregor would wear out a 28 year old Mayweather in the Octogon. That's not debatable. But I can tell you what, if Floyd went 4/5 rounds, I'd be on here saying he held his own because everyone in here knows his *** would get handed to him in 1 round.
I guess @Ron Mehico knows something we don't. Floyd Mayweather must have superb takedown defense, because that would be the only way he didn't get his *** handed to him in the Octogon. What's Floyd gonna do on the ground against Brazilian jujitsu? Give me a break. [roll]
Yet another Mayweather fight I gladly skipped. Now, I would pay to watch "Money" have the balls to get into the Octagon and see what he has.

I don't follow boxing much anymore, but I've been pulling for Floyd to lose since 2005 when he fought Arturo Gatti. I may not like how Floyd fights, but he wins. It's usually never even close. McGregor looked no worse than a lot of fighters that have faced Floyd. And what Floyd lacks in power and speed that he once had an abundance of, he makes up with his ring IQ. Dude knew exactly what he was doing, and grew stronger round by round. He knew Conor would run out of fuel. It was the master vs a student. And I have no problem with taking the approach to say "Conor's first fight ever in the ring was against arguably the greatest of all time, and he went 10 rounds and landed more punches than a lot of great fighters who have fought Floyd. I have to say he did a good job."

But back to the point. I certainly believe Floyd would still be the best in his division right now. But again, I don't follow boxing much anymore. But he's beat pretty much every good fighter in or around his weight division. There are obviously new fighters with a lot of upside I know nothing about.
In retrospect, Conor should've pushed even harder for a knockout punch in the first two rounds. Floyd actually looked vulnerable while Conor had his legs. Around round 5 or 6 it was obviously headed inexorably in the other direction.
Cardio has always been his main issue in his losses. When he has been fresh he has never been outclassed. Problem is when his cardio fails him, it happens almost instantly. He stops moving his head and starts eating shots
I have never been a fan of Floyd or his style of boxing. The dude has the stats to back up his claim of one of the greatest of all time and you can't take that away from him. I am not saying it's wrong, but don't enjoy the style of boxing May has in the ring. With his undefeated record, it is a style that has obviously worked for him. One of the reasons I never became a fan is the fact it seems the guy has a nice record, but not many great fighters he had to beat in the ring. It seemed to me every time he had a chance to fight those type of fighters, nothing would work out and the match never happens. I know it's not Floyd's fault, considering he beat every boxer matched up with him. In today's boxing world, you don't have as many great boxers to choose from to fight. Boxing has been slowly dying and it doesn't look like it will ever recover and be as big as it once was. When a guy fights more defense than trying for a knockout, it does make a match more boring and probably turned a lot of fans against Floyd. It is crazy to think a guy like Floyd can make more money in one fight than some of the all time greats made in their career. Floyd is good, but not the best ever.

How mayweather made such an insaneeee amount of money for this fight (and his last 2 fights really ) if boxing is dead ? Like he made hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars
What was the ref's problem? During the introductions while going over the rules, he only looks at McGregor like in a hostile way like a ref would look at DeMarcus Cousins.
Re-watched the entire fight on YouTube for free just now. I think McGregor comes out of this looking good and better than anyone expected.

Maybe the lack of fights? In one year, you can watch a dozen really compelling MMA fights.. The last big boxing match that got everyone together (in my circle at least), was Mayweather and Pac.. which was almost 2.5 years ago. Maybe less fights but more money?
Yeah same here. Last "big" fight My group , friends, Facebook etc was really talking about was May and Pac.
Makes sense, still weird to me there SO much money for him(Pac, Connor etc ) to make while boxing is obviously... on "life support" so to speak.
Regardless of how ****** a person May may be, yes def still a big draw. He'll pull viewers. 100%. If he fights again he'll pull big numbers.

Plus he made like 200 million lol. I think Connor is fine how things worked out. He went round for round with May, lost , but was at least somewhat respectable... while getting a crap load of $$

I want someone to explain to me how those two judges had it 8-1. That's absolute BS. At the very worst, it was 3-1 McGregor heading into the fifth. Mayweather didn't do anything in the first two rounds. The idea that someone would give him the second round is why boxing is trash.
