Has anyone been to Mexico recently? Did you have any issue getting back? How was it at the resort?

We are headed to Cancun in early March, and our resort has testing but just curious how it was down there.

We got back 1/24, moved up our trip so that we didn't have to test before return. I think that many resorts are going to be offering on site testing, but you still have to weigh the risk of testing positive (or a false positive) and being stuck in Mexico.

No issues at the resort, I don't think that I every saw an employee without a properly worn commercial mask. Some limitations on bars/restaurants at the resort (all inclusive) because of low occupancy. Buffet lines were served by staff instead of scoop your own. Our resort was maybe 20% capacity. Beach and pool has plenty of space to distance. Overall, felt very safe, but I'm not sure that I would go now with the testing requirement in place.

An employee just got back from the Cancun area. He switched resorts because the one he had originally booked did not do any testing to get back into the States. Once there, the resort did so much more to help prevent the spread than what we do here in the States. His group felt very safe at the resort. Everyone on his trip tested negative and no problems getting back to the States. They did the nose swab and results were back in 4 hours ;) ;) wink wink.... all negative (surprise, surprise). The resort did say that they would put them up for 14 days to quarantine but they would have had to stay in the room the 14 days. My group is going later this month to Jamaica and it appears that the resorts don't have the money to keep you there for 14 days and feed you if you know what i mean.

I know some people who went to Cabo before Christmas. They had a great time. No issues.

Love the weather in Cabo. 70 to 80. No humidity. Hardly rains. Always sunny. Beaches, mountains, deserts. Want to retire there.

Meanwhile, I was supposed to go to Jamaica in January, but resort didn't reopen. Rescheduled for April. They just notified me that they moved their reopening date again.

Long story short, not going to Jamaica this year.

Went to Montego Bay for honeymoon. Beautiful resorts. Friendly people and staff.

Was at the border yesterday. They had signs flashing that border crossing was restricted at the moment, whatever that means. They also want you to know that firearms and ammo are illegal in Mexico.

I heard going to Mexico was easy as far as going into Mexico and enjoying things in Mexico. But huge caveat. I believe the US is now requiring a negative covid test before returning, which could be a hassle in a foreign country.
