I was just taking a look and saw that Colorado has lost 116 games- how is it possible to be that bad?
That is bad enough, but look at their run differential. It’s insane. It is less than 10 or so behind the combined negative run difference of all the other NL teams put together. They are at -416 runs - more than double the next worst club (Nats).I was just taking a look and saw that Colorado has lost 116 games- how is it possible to be that bad?

Haha! They are doomed! May he live to be 120 years oldIs Jerry Jones the GM?
The Chicago White Sox lost 121 games last year. Not sure how MLB can consider more expansion when there isn't enough talent to go around now.I was just taking a look and saw that Colorado has lost 116 games- how is it possible to be that bad?
The talent is there, however it’s concentrated in organizations that have the $ to spend. It might take a strike for a salary cap to get implemented, but I personally think it’s a price that needs to be paid. The Chicago White Sox lost 121 games last year. No they don’t. They have a luxury tax that has proven to be little to no deterrent to some franchises. They have a salary cap
I agree with no more expansion. However, there’s plenty of talent. It’s just mostly on the big money/market teams. The Chicago White Sox lost 121 games last year. Not sure how MLB can consider more expansion when there isn't enough talent to go around now.

There's always enough talent. It's just a question of who gets it.The Chicago White Sox lost 121 games last year. Not sure how MLB can consider more expansion when there isn't enough talent to go around now.
Would a rose by another name still smell so sweet??No they don’t. They have a luxury tax that has proven to be little to no deterrent to some franchises.
And the implementation of a cap is what will likely cause the next work stoppage.
...and the have nots get none of it. Get ready for a major work stoppage. There's always enough talent. It's just a question of who gets it.
So you think the players see the luxury tax and an actual salary cap as one and the same? Hopefully they do, since the bargaining will be smooth sailing then.Would a rose by another name still smell so sweet??

yep the Tigers farm system would have won more games than the Rockies this yearThe talent is there, however it’s concentrated in organizations that have the $ to spend. It might take a strike for a salary cap to get implemented, but I personally think it’s a price that needs to be paid.
Then they need a meaningful salary floor as well. Teams like the Rockies and Pirates are taking advantage of great fanbases by charging major league prices for AAAA baseball, without trying to compete year after year.A meaningful salary cap is the only thing that will keep MLB viable. AND, it may eventually mean that some of the smaller market teams will have a chance to compete more than once every 20 years or so.

Agree, and it will almost certainly be a part of it. But most (outside of the fans of 4-5 teams) will agree that a change is necessary. Then they need a meaningful salary floor as well. The key is pitching talent. The bottom feeder teams don't have it. Who do the Pirates have after Skenes, for example. Then couple that with the big market teams with much more money being able to raid the top players/prospects of the smaller market teams and you get the imbalance we see. The Dodgers have won their division 12 of 13 years, is that all because their manager and GM are geniuses? There's always enough talent. It's just a question of who gets it.
The Pirates are a bad example in your post. The Pirates have way more pitching talent than they do hitting. Oviedo, Chandler, Ashcraft, Burrows, and then they get Jones back next year along with a steady Keller. If they had 3b and LF who could hit at all they would be 500The key is pitching talent. It's a lot like college football these days. The Dodgers have won their division 12 of 13 years, is that all because their manager and GM are geniuses?
Absolutely Relayer! I've been saying, for a few years now, MLB needs to eliminate about 2 teams per league! Expansion only helped the large, money-rich organizations like in NY, LA, Philly, and Boston. The Chicago White Sox lost 121 games last year. Not sure how MLB can consider more expansion when there isn't enough talent to go around now.
Well, in a way, I gotta disagree with ya Relayer. The Marlins, Pirates, and A's all get real good players cuz they pick early in the draft due to having terrible teams. They develop these guys, and then trade them off. With that said, let's see how long Skenes stays in Pittsburgh. Colorado needs to move to another baseball area. Just my humble opinions....and the have nots get none of it. Get ready for a major work stoppage.
Actually they should lower it, it would help reduce a lot of the arm injuries as well.Raise the mound.
I think the Yankees now have 5 decent to good/very good starters. I can't figure them out. They started the season looking like a championship team. Then they didn't even look like a playoff team and had a horrendous bullpen. Now they look like world beaters again. Tough team to figure out.I think everyone would agree there is a dearth of pitching in MLB. No team has 5 reliable or even decent starters. If there is expansion and the pitching pool gets diluted even further, there is going to be a lot of bad baseball.
With all the $ the Yankees spend, it is crazy that the rotation has been stabilized by 3 young kids - Gil, Warren and Schlittler. If they could just fix that bullpen, they could have a chance.I think the Yankees now have 5 decent to good/very good starters. I can't figure them out. The problem with Colorado is definitely not fan support. It is ownership. You will get the same result for that franchise, wherever they are located, due to the owner.Well, in a way, I gotta disagree with ya Relayer.
