I was thinking about the Titans and the Rams draft trade and I was wondering if it ever works out for the team that gives up a bunch of picks for the #1 pick? I know if has worked out for teams trading away players for a bunch of picks (Dallas trading Herschel Walker worked out well for Dallas). But has it ever worked out for the team giving up a bunch of picks?
I don't count the Eli Manning trade, because it was one spot and Eli said he wasn't going to San Diego (and IIRC the trade was after the pick was made). I remember New Orleans giving up a lot for Ricky Williams, but that didn't get them and rings. What trades am I missing?

The Titans will also receive the Rams’ first-round pick in 2017, along with their third-round pick in next year’s draft.
