Based off early season play, McLeod is working on a better then expected contract, while Mercer is costing himself some dollars.
Ya, saw Laberge, was hoping Nemec, but I guess they just want to let him cook.
Is Philly even a team you need to load the lineup with heavies anymore?
I think Philly is now more bark than bite. There was a report that the Devils want more grit and toughness, they think Leberge will add it. Maybe later for Nemec.
Bad stretch, hopefully we are just getting the injuries out of the way early.

Normally I’d be pissed off to give up a 2-goal lead with 5 minutes remaining but the refs looked to do everything to give Philly power plays.
Because of that we’re still looking up at Philly in the standings.
Smith-Konneckny should have both gone into the box. We would have won in regulation.

It'll be interesting to see if there's still a move to be made with CGY. Hanifin and Tanev are rumored to be on the block. Had Luke gone down last night, I don't see how they wouldn't have called up Nemec, paired with another move from the outside.
Onto SJ tonight. They can't afford to take this one lightly with the Pacific NW/Western Canada road trip looming. SJ is 0-10-0 on the road - never want to be the team that they break through against. Vanecek likely starting, but hopefully Meier returns.

Calgary didn’t want to retain any salary . They want to save those limited slots for the other soon to be UFAs . Devils don’t have cap space to take on Zadorovs full cap hit .
This is way Fitz should have left more cap space, or at the very least created it like Vancouver did.

Plus putting dougie on LTIR frees up ALOT of cap for another defenseman and a goalie.
I shouldn’t say it “frees up”…but it certainly will alllow the devils flexibility to go over the cap.

What’s your definition of “good?” Gibson is having a much better year than either of the current goalies. And he’s available.
Flames defenders (Taney, Hanifin) are available and either will be an upgrade on D.
