Another real good win against a very good team. Once again Dougie passed the puck to the opposition in our D zone, Carolina kept control until they scored. 1st goal of the game. He needs to be sent down.

Traded maybe, sent down nay.

I liked the teams focus even though Carolina got a couple of calls we didn't. In fact last night was the first NJD win without a PP opportunity since March 13, 1991. Now this is impressive for General Keefe!

Traded would work. If it didn't work, I know they won't send him down, but I would. You're not going to go deep into the playoffs or win the Cup with a liability like him on D.

Yes he is your whipping boy. His defense isn't good, but his offense at his position gives him value.

I wasn't trying to be a wise ***, just thinking of the 7 million + brigade, Hamilton is the least painful to trade. You are not going to trade an Hischier or Hughes, Bratt has to stay, and Timo gives you points and physical dominance most of the time. This leaves Dougie as the odd man out IMHO. After all we don't have alot of cap space.

Luke Hughes is a problem. Throw the Jack contract at him today and get it done. Along with the 15 pts in his last 12 games, he’s been elite defensively. That pairing with Pesce has been surgical. The difference in defensive approach team-wide is night and day vs. last season. What the hell was the staff doing? Also, kudos to Markstrom who has been on a torrid run of play. 10 GA in his last 9 games.

Defense is a multi layered position. Hamilton is at his worst skating backwards into the zone...he seems to get caught flat footed and look a step too slow against the other team's top line sometimes. But on the flip side another big part of the job is using your brain and stick and feet at the same time to generate a breakout opportunity out of a crowded loose puck behind the net, and that is something he is rather good at IMO. As for passes, the stretch pass is not as much of a thing for the Devils this year as it was for Lindy as far as I can tell? But it is still here to stay in today's NHL, and anytime you are trying to throw a lot of stretch passes out there, some are going to be picked off...that doesn't bother me. Show me someone who hasn't done that a few times.

Agree (tongue in cheek).

He still does stuff where to you go, “WHY!” but then stuff where you go, “Whoa.”

Yes plus we have Nemec to replace him.

I didn't think you were trying to be a wise ***. Hamilton is not a whipping boy. He just flat out stinks as an NHL defenseman. As for his offensive value as others have pointed to, he too often he gets caught up ice trying to be a forward & gives up odd man rushes. On the power play, L Hughes would be far better than Dougie at point on the first power play unit. Better skater, moves the puck better.
Plus, Dougie is slow & soft. Playing on reputation & because the Devs gave him a big fat contract. Oh, & did I mention that he stinks.

While I agree with you I'm just happy to know some NHL GM will continue to over value him. Even getting a bottom 6 winger will be difficult with our current cap situation. Besides Nemec, Hatakka, and Desimone can play. As always Goals, assist, and points count more than defensive shot suppression statistics.

Only know Nemec. Yes he can play. If, as you say, the others can as well, then bring one of the three up now & let him gain experience before the playoffs.

He’s a great leader, loved in locker room and is a huge part of the team

He’s going nowhere

Coming back from a torn pectoral is very difficult. Most take multiple years, if they ever get their game back. Dougie thankfully has shown his playmaking ability.

Devils Brass have better keep a close eye on the number of games Allen gets. To me it would be criminal to give a 2nd Round pick for him. I don't care we have 3, we don't have a 1sr Round pick this year. Bring up Daws, or make a minor deal, don't give a 2nd for mediocre Allen please.

Dougies no move clause ends after this season . It turns into a modified trade clause of ten teams for the final 3 seasons he is under contact

Allen has to hit 40 games played for it to become a 2nd

For and against, right?

I want to know what happens on the scoreboard when my blue liners are out there .

Huh? Fooled? He's struggled this year but let's stop short of suggesting his teammates don't respect him or look up to him, Hamilton is a quality human being.

Leader? You think these guys don't see the poor play? They sure as H do. Guys on a team know who's doing what. All you Dougie defenders are apparently watching a different Dougie. Suit yourselves.

I can’t answer either of these posts but I have seen the “chemistry” thing mentioned by a few of the younger guys post game or between periods.

If he gets suspended for that, I hope Keefe storms the league office himself. The officials have lost the plot, league-wide, this year.
Boom 100%, where is Robbie Ftorek when we need him. My concern is that 1 game suspension he received not to long ago.
