A series doesn't start til the visitors win oneAgree. Again, they didn’t belong in the same rink the first two games vs the rangers either. Win tomorrow and it’s a series.
This is an overused cliche. I'm sure when the home team wins the first 5 games and it's 3-2 going into Game 6, the team whose back is against the wall doesn't feel as though the series hasn't started. Home ice also isn't as advantageous as people think. Home team win percentage is only slightly higher than 50%.A series doesn't start til the visitors win one
Think I'd go back to Schmido also.Lindy for the most part has been pushing all the right buttons but if he's giving Vanecek the nod tonight like a looks like he's doing, I fear that's a move we'll regret.
21 goals in 3 2/3rds games….are you guys on record pace? Yikes
Was at the game. Wish I could say it was a tough loss. Have to just focus on game 5.
It's not the only reason but it is the top reason, when your goalie has a .500 save % in one period of play like Vanecek did in the second (5 saves on 10 SOG) , that's on the goaltending. If you think goaltending is why the Devils lost, then I don't know what game you were watching.

I think that‘s a scapegoat. Both Neces goals were unmarked shots low in the slot off 2-1s, the Pesce goal was an unmarked shot high in the slot through a screen (and placed well going in off the post), and the Fast goal was (again) unmarked 1-1 down low off a rebound. Goalies deserve blame on next two but it was already 4-1.It's not the only reason but it is the top reason, when your goalie has a .500 save % in one period of play like Vanecek did in the second (5 saves on 10 SOG) , that's on the goaltending.
If you're going to win in the playoffs your goaltending needs to step up significantly, even when the team plays like total crap, you can't give up four goals in four minutes, he's been shitting the bed since Game 1 of the playoffs.I think that‘s a scapegoat. Reality is the team was not skating well, was very poor with the puck, and was very loose in their own end. NYR rarely ever had scoring chances like that in final 5 games of the series let alone one period. Hell, the giveaways (which ain’t a great statistic) were 26-2 last night. I’ve never seen a figure like that. (Devils had 34 in first 3 games as reference).
But yes, Vanacek had a poor save percentage…
The debate wasn't whether he's good but rather was he the reason they lost. You didn't counter any of the examples I provided, and Ruff called the team's play the most disappointing he's seen in a critical game in his career. If you're going to win in the playoffs your goaltending needs to step up significantly, even when the team plays like total crap, you can't give up four goals in four minutes, he's been shitting the bed since Game 1 of the playoffs.
No one is making him the scapegoat. He's simply no good.
Or let in six.You also rarely win when you only score one goal.
We'll see!Hurricanes don’t want to fly back to Jersey
They will demolish NJ tonight
Of course, my point was that we can debate who should have been in goal that night, but it most likely wouldn't have mattered because they only scored once.Or let in six.![]()
Just noticed the LeGrand Coffee stickers on all the Devil helmets. Have they been sporting these all season? Either way pretty cool for Eric and Co.
I think just for away games, right?Yes all season
It’s one of the most exciting things in all of sports. As an objective viewer (i.e. no dog in the race), nice to finally see a close game in this series. I just want as much playoff OT hockey as possible.
In my humble opinion, it is THE most exciting thing in all of sports. It’s one of the most exciting things in all of sports.
The Belmont with a Triple Crown at stake down the stretch is pretty good too.In my humble opinion, it is THE most exciting thing in all of sports.
The only thing that beats it is game 7 hockey OT playoff game.
