OT: One Word Thread

I give up. It's bad enough following a word with a word that comes before the quoted word (gigilo-american).. I can at least see why because some words are damn difficult to follow.. but SYNONYMS? (charmer-gigilo) What's next, alternative spellings? homonyms?
