No actually don't assume that. Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Do tell?
Randolph isn't close to the county line in Jersey commute time/disSince you would be close to the county line, here is the one for Sussex County---http://www.sussexskylands.com/
Lived there 15-17 years ago, and we liked it a lot. We lived on the border of Mendham. Too long ago to remember the culture/vibe of the community.
Do communities even have a culture/vibe any more? Our town in Monmouth County has 0 culture/vibe. Not sure if it is our particular town full of investment banking types, or if that is the way things are nowadays with everyone staying in there house and interacting on social media and message boards. We found that the people in Belmar and South Monmouth area to be more friendly and outgoing than our current location.
I think towns in North Jersey still have vibe. Certainly, one can easily distinguish between the "vibe" in, say, Maplewood and Ridgewood.

I was going to add, stay away from the Dover side of town. That stretch of Randolph near Victory Gardens and the Showplace go-go bar is not very nice.

I grew up in Randolph, the town has no soul, it is the very definition of a commuter community. There is no natural town center whatsoever, unless you call the corner of Millbrook Ave and Sussex Tpk a town center, which it is not. People need to remember that it was once the rural part of Mendham. The advice to stay away from the Dover border area is smart. Shongum Lake used to be the best part of town, but it hasn't aged well. Ironia was the hicks and still is but with more development houses now. Randolph has a decent high school and the residents are willing to spend money on the school system, so that is a positive. Once your kids make it through the school system a lot of people pack up and move to a real town with a soul.
I grew up in Rockaway but used to deliver pizza for Franks Pizza in Randoloh so I knew every street in Randolph. Randolph is a nice suburb to live in. Very quiet and lots of nice areas. Most people seemed to like living there. The one bad thing- Route 10 traffic to East Hanover sucks!
I would research Roxbury if you are looking at Randolph. Offers a lot more for less money. Great community. People are really involved and the schools are as good as you need them to be. If you want to go Ivy League you can. Property taxes significantly lower and the parks and recreation system is fantastic. My sister has commuted to Florham Park from Succasunna for 30 years. It is just something you get used to.
anybody remember Obessions in Randolph?

Some people get persickety when I mention it, but Rumson. Not proud of it. Not bragging. We have never liked it here, and will probably leave soon. What is your current location ?

Why? It has a snobby reputation so I understand why you don't want to mention it but thought that it seems like a cool spot to live. Close to lots of cool towns. Some people get persickety when I mention it, but Rumson. Not proud of it. Not bragging. We have never liked it here, and will probably leave soon.
Well the term Guido is kind of racist. Then you mention blacks and Columbians fighting. Not exactly "guidos."I try to forget it.
Was not my scene with the guidos.
Went there once and a fight broke out with between some Colombians from Dover vs some Black dudes from Morristown.
The gay men in Randolph must have partners. Thus no vibrancy is required.but his only complaints were taking NJ Transit into the city and Randolph's lack of an active, vibrant gay community.
Who remembers what Obsessions was called before it was called Obsessions? This is a test (which is actually a clue)

Abro ding, ding, ding, winner, winner chicken dinner. 84-88, stayed there after we graduated for 2 years. You obviously walked by our house numerous times. My Three Sons for day drinking and darts with the locals? What a dive but it was fifty feet away.
Someone here used to give me crap every time I mentioned I live there. Sea Bright is an OK beach town. Red Bank has a lot of restaurants. But as I said, the people in South Monmouth- Belmar/Wall/Spring Lake Heights/Manasquan just seem more neighborly and nice than up this way. Why? It has a snobby reputation so I understand why you don't want to mention it but thought that it seems like a cool spot to live. Close to lots of cool towns.
