Xavier Johnson (Pitt) is transferring (playing the Cats is a sure way for me to keep paying attention to a team) - a PG who averaged 14+ ppg in this first 3 season. Who reportedly was the reason Marcus Carr transferred as he feared not getting minutes. I sense a fallout with the coach. Pitt appeared to me to have a solid trio with Johnson/Champagnie/Toney to make a run at the tournament next season. Portal has been wild in recent years. It will seem like it was mellow compared to this year.

John Becker (VT) - I just read that Vermont was not allowed, due to state Covid restrictions, to have a non conference schedule. Started conference 2-3. Followed it with 8-1. Dude keeps delivering, year after year. Why is he not on more power conference team's radar? Or is he? Don't know. Mind: blown

Bellarmine (A-Sun) - Cute little story. Was a perennial power house in DII. I went to a couple of their games as I lived in the Ville for 3 years. Small gym, big game atmosphere. At that time I went ahead and read stuff I could find about the tiny private school. Coached by Scott Davenport since 2005. First 3 seasons were around the .500 mark. After that he took off. Davenport was an assistant for legendary coach Crum. Moved around a bit and returned to the Cardinals and stayed on, through Pitino, until he took the job at Bellarmine. Rumors of DI teams being interested in him have surfaced in the past. Many believe, though, that he is such a townie, that he would only leave for the UL. Bellarmine is tied for first in the conference with (very successful in recent years) Liberty. Not bad for a first year DI team.

Cool little article on Dacenport: https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2020/12/29/davenport-q-a.html

Billy Donlon - Good to see a former NU guy go 6-1 for the last 7 games. While that still makes UMKC's record not that impressive, their losses were usually by very narrow margins.

Pat Baldwin - Another mediocre season at UWM. I believe, and want to continue to believe, coach Baldwin is a good coach. But when is he going to have a good season in Milwaukee?

Bryce Drew - After seeing our tournament game again last week, it warms my heart to see that Bryce Drew is having an outstanding season, after taking over for Dan Majerle, at GCU. Why? For no logical reason.
