I assume by listing the Train Station you were including the whole complex which had the Caboose, Whistle Stop, and Train Yard. The Whistle Stop was one of favorite haunts in State College because very few people knew about it and therefore it was relaxing to take a date or just hang out with a friend or two.Train station

My favorite bar though was The Brickhouse. They would pour until exactly 2:00AM, unlike every other place that had last calls starting around 1:30 or so, and they would allow you to order a large quantity of beer/drinks and stay open until you finished. However, the best part was the Brickhouse almost always had an acoustic guitarist playing folk music which I consider the perfect way to end a night out on the town. The Brickhouse was located in the small parking lot behind the Phyrst off of Humes Alley
I'll take Burger Chef out of that list. Some that come to mind...

Roy Rogers
Dutch Pantry

Everybody goes to Gino's because Gino's is the place to go.No Gino’s mentions?
With that blue bug zapper flickering while you waited to order. Not sure how many there were but the Tasty Freeze was always a go to, especially in the summer.

I was a whistle stop fan too. I liked the backgammon tables. Was go to from '81-'8471 Posts in and nobody said Pedro’s yet.
My last drink - pitchers of releave valves - were at the Whistle Stop last night before folks picked me up after graduation. First drink there was as a high school kid visiting my older brother, went out drinking with him and his RA there when I was 18.I was a whistle stop fan too. I liked the backgammon tables. Was also a fan of the Train Yard.
Brickhouse was always a good place to go and chill in the afternoon and they had some decent bands.

I look forward to McDonalds going away
I prefer BK and Wendy's over McDonald's. The problem is there are a lot more McDonald's locations.I look forward to McDonalds going away
As fast food places go I like Arby's.
I just had the best chocolate shake I've ever had at a place in Hatch, NM called Sparky's. It was chocolate with Green Chile's and called an Ozzy. LOL. One of the best Green Chile Cheese burgers I've ever had.Love their jamocha shakes!
Wendy's is best by a long shot for me (for what's available/price) in fast food. Don't know if they still have it, but $2 Dave's Doubles on their app. And you don't have to buy anything else. Best sandwich on the menu for $2. Hard to beat that.I prefer BK and Wendy's over McDonald's. The problem is there are a lot more McDonald's locations.
We seldom eat at McDonald's except for a quick drive through at the pickup window on a long trip. McDonald's is often the only option.

Going to BK, you probably have a 30% chance of getting a decent Whopper, and they never put them on sale anymore. Just last year Arby's had 5 RB sandwiches for $5 - just a phenomenal deal. BK can't touch that value.
Hit it many times when home from collegeBiff Burger, which stood for Best In Fast Food. There used to be one on the strip between Sunbury & Selinsgrove that was the great. Biff Burger was known for their double deck, rotary broiler. The burgers went on the top layer and the buns on the bottom layer so the buns would catch the drippings as they were toasted.

I will add that McDonalds has BOGO's on their apps sometimes for Big Macs and Quarter Pounders. You need to know the difference. Big Macs are great, but they're frozen patties. Only Quarter Pounders are FRESH meat at McDonalds. And they are good.
I used that Wendy's deal about 2 weeks ago. The Arby's deal last year was sort of their way of paying homage to their famous Buck A Beef promo years ago. A strike of lightning, in other words.Fast food inflation has set in.
Dave's double for $2 has to be really old. I just looked on the app and the store near me wants $6.79. The app special offer is 2 singles for $8.
I don't see any 5 for $5 at Arby's either. They do have some buy 1 get 1 offers.
BK used to have $1 Whoppers on Wednesday but I think they're now $3.

Also technically a chain restaurant for eastern PA was Seafood Shanty. I used to go to the one on the Warrington/Doylestown border. Was a big deal back in the day to go out there. Started in Berks county I believe here is a link on the the restaurant chain back then...

Did anybody mention White Castle?

But they fly at Fat Burger when they’re way out west.Beastie Boys did.
Anyone ever see an Arby’s smoking their meat at a PSU tailgate??!Arby’s has the meats. Don’t tell @Bkmtnittany1.
Actually, this thread left the rails some time ago. This is supposed to be about chain restaurants that no longer exist. That being said, I love these food threads.Did anybody mention White Castle?
