So it’s okay if a lesbian (a woman who likes looking at nude women) share a public restroom with your daughter, but not a person that believes they are female and prefers looking at nude men?

Honestly, this is one of the worst arguments people make. It’s totally illogical. Not to mention an irrational fear of penises.

Totally agree.

If a team is called “the Seminoles” (or some other real Indian name for example) and they DONT have a cartoonish logo or cheers (ie they are respectful of the local legacy) isn’t that honoring the native inhabitants?

If you don’t mind men in the same bathroom as little girls that’s your choice.
Most men who identify as women, still prefer women by the way.
I have to assume you have no problem with men who think they’re women beating the crap out of them on the athletic field also

It usually is, just like throwing a Cinco de Mayo party or having a cartoon character with a Japanese accent isn't theft. At the same time, changing the name of a sports team under pressure isn't Armageddon and the Destruction of the Nation. I'm tired of the drama.

But I feel they stopped being colonials( inhabitants of a colony)
when they took up arms against England and the loyal colonials (Tories)
to throw of the yoke of British rule and become an independent nation
and citizens of the USA.

I can't claim you're wrong saying :If I was asked “who fought the British?” my answer would be “the colonists”
But I would say they were the revolutionaries serving in the Contental Army that Fought the British and their loyal subjects that lived in the 13 colonies

Question (for all, not just zap): what if the name we knew the car by all this time were "The Ford Stallion".. and NOW they decided to change it to "The Ford Mustang".. because it is not gender specific.. would that generate a similar distaste for a name change of a venerated brand for PC reasons?

Now you're expanding the point. Bathroom use has nothing to do with what you call someone. A guy named Yogi Berra was not named Yogi by his parents when he was born. Should people have refused to call him Yogi?

I wouldn’t care any more than I care about this sports team name change. I also didn’t care when Star Trek changed from saying “where no man has gone before” to “where no one has gone before”. In all cases, keep the name/phrase or change it, I just don’t care. We have far more important issues.

OTOH, I am deeply offended that Ford slapped the name “Mustang” on their EV SUV. That was an unconscionable act of pure evil and an affront to all that is innocent and good in the universe. 😀

Times change, some things that were before become something else down the road during people's lifetime .
Those changes have some people think it's a needed change while others feel outraged over the change.
Since I was knee high to a grasshopper I've heard this saying:
"There's nothing permanent but change"
As an adult I see many people outraged from the changes happening in society and people have been that way since the dawn of civilization .

One thing might never change is the fact there probably will always refuse to respect another person's wishes because they don't agree with it.

Just to be a PITA, it was the British who fought the British in the revolution. Along with a lot of help from France for the rebels plus an odd Pole, Italian and German or two. They didn’t become the USA for quite a few years, under the articles of Confederation they were not the USA.
Interesting side note since gender popped up here, some historians believe Pulaski was actually a she, not a he. Of course, kind of hard to prove now.

When the vocal minority run out of mascots to be offended by, eventually they'll come after the Crusader and Knight monikers. The background of those two will be linked to religion, conquering and war. A triple no-no for the easily offended.

But picture his GrandPa saying it and the 7 year old remembering it
over the years.
Glad you know at what age one becomes knee high to a grasshopper

Don’t forget the Vikings. Paradoxically, they both attacked the ancestors of most on here and they are also the ancestors of most on here.

Isn't it amazing how every generation sees people shocked and furious that the world dares to change from the times of their youth? And they always view it as something forced on humanity by evil subversives instead of the inevitable result of many factors. The fact is that changing names or discarding words is not new. When was the last time you heard the words octaroon or quadroon? Things have always gone out of fashion, sometimes for good reason, sometimes not.

Yeah, I saw that special on Smithsonian channel. The one thing they can't explain away is there are records of him being baptized and he was baptized as a son. They exhumed his bones over 200 yrs. later to come to this women or intersex conclusion. Even after their scientific mumbo jumbo you left very skeptic of their conclusions.

Lots of people have bludgeoned lots of other people over the years. No one has a monopoly on bludgeoning.
For what it’s worth, one of my ancestors along with some of her children and a servant were killed by natives while living in area of Dutch New Amsterdam. She had originally lived in MA, but got kicked out by the Puritan establishment because of religious reasons, had to walk to RI, and later moved to Dutch controlled region.

my bad.. I read that wrong... you said HEARD.. I read.. "I was saying".. amazing what a brain can do when not being careful and thoughtful. So I conjured up the image of someone, anyone, claiming they were saying that since they were "knee-high to..".. and it was just ludicrous enough to immediately react.. instead of me thinking I could not have read that right or that was not worded correctly.

The saying itself.. hell yeah.. it is common enough for a reason. The big unexpected CHANGE right now is all this AI stuff. Every kid thinking of a career path now needs to factor that in.. BIG TIME.. as does so many others who have to keep an eye on their careers.
