OT: Rider Wrestling

It was announced that John Hangey has “temporarily” stepped down as head coach.
He will be the Deputy AD. In reality, he will be the AD as Rider has not named on since the previous one retired.
Associate Head Coach Nic Bedelyon Andy with Doug Umbehaur and Tyler Klinsky will coach this year.

The interesting comment in the announcement is that Rider is “evaluating the Athlectic Dept and its needs”

I wonder if the school is looking to drop out of Division 1.

Rider in all seriousness may not exist as a university much longer. They're in serious dire straits financially and had to sell part of their campus off to stay solvent. If I'm a Rider student, I'm making sure to have a potential transfer college in their back pocket like a TCNJ or Rowan or Rutgers if they have the grades if worst comes to worst.

Man, didn't realize Rider was down this bad currently. Shame, as they really are one of those small programs that gets so much out of their wrestlers.

They cut their debt from 21.7 million to 12 in just the last year and plan on breaking even by 2027 , they seem to be in an much better place now then 2024 when it looked like it may fold. Hagney is in the AD role bc he was able to raise every penny personally for their new practice room and everything for the team the past 5 yrs and The school needs that across all sports programs now bc 0 money is available for sports until the debt is at 0

Didn't they sell a portion of the university to the county for 10 million as well?

Yea 56 acres to Mercer county including the presidents house and some lease properties they owned. Really just extra property nothing used for classes or sports
