He was my favorite actor by far. Could play so many roles and I don't believe he ever made a bad movie. Let the investigation play out but sounds like either cabon monoxide poisoning or he/wife one of them decided it was time for them all to go. Used to drive by his house down in the Keys all the time. He had his own island in the Keys right by Bud 'n Mary's Marina on Islamorada if anyone knows that well known marina. He sold it several years ago as he was getting up in age.

“The Conversation” is coming up on TCM soon. I’ll send out an alert. This role, Harry Caul, is one of the most difficult roles out there, unreal. (The supporting roles are perfectly cast and acted, just saying.) I don’t know how many of you have seen this, but it is a remarkable film. The sound is a crucial part of the movie but it is so brilliantly filmed that it resonates with me regardless.

Didn’t have this on my bingo card. I guess any results/causes would be sad .

wow, that's a sad way to go out for a couple. Not much dignity for either of them in the manner of their passings (not that they had any control over that).

I’ve seen this, and it may have been on the recommendation of someone (you?) here. Anyway, I remember liking it. Coppola directed.

Latest update looks like the wife died of Hantavirus and Hackman lived for another week before dying of cardiovascular disease and severe Alzheimer’s. I hadn’t heard he had Alzheimer’s before, much less that bad.

“The Anderson Tapes” is also on TCM Wednesday, March 12th, at 2:45 am eastern. In my cinematic universe, Hackman’s Harry Caul was involved as a subcontractor with “The Anderson Tapes.”

horrible way to go- for both of them

if dad is 95, don't you call at least a couple of times a week?

There’s a weird dynamic there. One of the daughters said the kids hadn’t spoken to him in ‘a few months’. This was not too long after Christmas. Made it sound like they didn’t even speak over the holidays.

I remember a movie he made with Al Pacino called "Scarecrow". Pacino wanted to open a car wash in Pittsburgh.
