Sad for anyone's passing, but if my life depended on it I couldn't name a single Prince tune. That's an OFC for you. RIP.

His music was part of the sound track of my youth. An outstanding performer and a true music icon.

Wasn't there a situation several years ago where he rented Carlos Boozer's house and painted it entirely purple and built symbol gates and such? It was a weird story if I remember.

“Supposedly, Prince changed the front gate to the Prince sign, he changed the master bedroom to a hair salon, he changed the streaming blue waters that led to the front door to purple water, he knocked out walls, he changed the molding on top of the ceiling. Booz was livid. So pissed off, so angry … He put his Purple Rain stamp on it … Booz was like, ‘I was getting ready to go over there and beat this little man down.’ And dude was just like ‘Here, Boozer, here is a little check for about a million, it’ll take care of everything, get it back the way you want it.’ And Booz was like, ‘This little man is cool as hell.’”

I remember the Boozer story as Show tells it. That and being from dukiejay's backyard are connections here, and of course, as I'm an '80s teen, his music is connected to a lot of memories. Sad to hear of his passing. Whenever celebrities die, it's like a reminder of my own aging and the memories associated with them develop a little more wear and tear themselves.

I want to add, we're talking about a dude who was five foot TWO, shorter than Muggsy Bogues and probably HALF Boozer's weight, and he had the 'nads to go into it thinking, "I'll just cut him a check after the fact," assuming he'd have a chance to give it to him before a guy with the quick reflexes of a professional athlete got his hands around his neck. And he made it so right Boozer didn't come away from it grumbling resentfully about how they were square; he was like, ready to invite him back to do it again.

Sad, sad day.

I live less than 15 minutes from Paisley Park and drive by it three or four days per week. There was a little more special meaning this afternoon when I did. Still can't believe it.

For those of you who might not know, his random, spur of the moment performances at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, MN were a pure thing of greatness. I attended two of them....one while I was in college and another in my mid-20s. Hands down the best performer I've ever witnessed. Pure greatness.

Quick story....the year was 1997. I was a sophomore in college. Middle of a Minnesota winter. One of my buddies who lived on the same floor as me 'heard' about a 'concert' that night at Paisley Park with Prince performing. His dad was a big, local businessman and passed along to us this info.

Of course, we wanted to go. My buddies and I would take turns calling out there between classes to learn more. Either the line would be busy or ring and ring. There was never an answer. Finally, my friend got through and asked if Prince was performing that night. The lady in the other end of the phone continuously said no one would be performing under that name. My friend persisted. Then it dawned on him....he asked her if the Artist Formerly Known as Prince was performing. She said yes. We bought four tickets.

Again, middle of winter and a snowstorm on top of that. We get there early, let's say 7pm. It's hard to describe Paisley Park if you haven't been there, but it's like a small, private concert venue. Finally, after about eight hours of drinking and partying with others to see this live performance, Prince comes out at 3am and just jams his *** off for 90 minutes or so. He's performing in the crowd at times, has people on stage with him and just entertains. Best. Concert. Ever. My hangover didn't allow me to attend class the next day but it was the best hangover I've ever had.

Today we had rain showers in the area....earlier this evening a fan snapped a picture of a rainbow over Paisley Park where thousands have gathered today. Symbolic. RIP, Prince.

He was one insanely intelligent, creative dude. Rip prince.

Side note, Chappelle's Prince skit was one of the funniest things I've seen.
