Bixby Bridge - Big Sur. Have done the drive a few times. Beautiful views but the wind makes me nervous. Not Don Knotts nervous, but close.
Absolutely gorgeous drive but yea some parts are cringy. Unfortunately I'm not sure the bridge is open. They've had a lot of road closures and thats too bad it really is jaw dropping gorgeous.

I’ve mentioned that my grandfather was a civil engineer in DC and until today I thought his biggest project was the Islamic Mosque on Massachusetts Avenue at the Rock Creek Parkway. Today I found out (via my genealogy-obsessed first cousin) that he was chief engineer during the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Also found out today that he first met my grandmother at the 1927 Army-Navy game, at the Polo Grounds. Cool. I had known that he played on the last Catholic University football team to beat Maryland, 1915. I like sharing that last little tidbit.
About my grandfather being the chief engineer on the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, he wasn’t. Something about the story just didn’t seem to fit and a little research has convinced me that my cousin, who is an actor, just saying, was embellishing big time. Norm, my grandfather, would demand that I set the record straight.

I drove over the Bay Bridge on a Sunday night in February of 1970 for a new job at Fort Monmouth. It was a stormy night with heavy winds as I began crossing and the radio started playing "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
That’s amazing!
