For his sake, I hope he's NOT the next Tiger.. Let's call him the next Jack Nicklaus. Win a lot of majors without the personal drama.

Why is JS such a saint? Don't get me wrong, I like him just fine. But let's say if Anthony Davis came back for his sophomore year, and instead of leading UK to back-to-back national titles, Davis QUITS the team in the middle of the season to become a free agent and signs with whatever NBA team picks him up (that would be dumb, but do-able).

That is precisely what JS did at Texas. He quit. He left his team holding the bag in the middle of his sophomore year instead of going for consecutive national titles. And everybody loved him for it. Somehow this was perceived as a personal, moral sacrifice on his part.

Jordan S. is a shining example of media racism. All the little Asian and white girls who are adored for playing professional golf and tennis and thereby disqualify themselves from the "opportunity to go to college" are other examples. The only time the media leads you by the nose to question the ethics of young people favoring professional athletic careers over college is when black males are involved.

He'll be one of the best for a long while...but no one is going to dominate the game like tiger did...

he'll win majors...but so will Rory, Jason Day, Ricky Fowler, Bubba, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson, etc...there are a lot of guys in their 20s-30s who are going to be taking turns winning titles...

Also, tiger didn't have the foreign talent invading either...thanks to him growing the game on a global level there are a lot of talented kids from asia and indonesia who will compete as the game moves forward...golf is becoming their soccer...next big demographic in sports...

The fields are a lot more talented and deeper than when tiger played..

I don't mean to take away from what he did...because he simply is one of the greatest sports icons ever...and in his prime he could dominate in any era...

but Tiger played when the field was largely country club dads and old timers...athletes played other sports...and he was about the only guy who could bomb it...

but now because he exploded the game, dudes that could play other sports, who have some natural athleticism and power outside the mechanics of golf are playing the game...

if you're an athlete, have a nice frame and some power, can hit the ball straight and putt...you have a better shot at landing and OSU golf scholly as opposed to getting a sniff from Urban...but even that is starting to change as kids are starting to focus solely on golf and play the jr tournament circuits...

long story short...Speith will be really good...but so will a number of other players...

He's not as good as Tiger was, so I wouldn't call him the next Tiger as a player. He has the makings to be a fan fave.

Seems to me Kentucky was the only team getting hammered for one and done. Now that Duke is doing it no one seems to care. Do you really think the media is racist against black males?

Not sure about the racism crap you're whining about, but the reason that nobody cares about JS quitting Texas golf is that NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT COLLEGE GOLF! If Spieth had been the QB at Texas and pulled that stunt, they'd hate him.

When Tiger was Tiger he was 15-20 yds longer than everyone else. Speigh is actually not as long as most of his competitors. Courses started trying to"Tiger-proof" their courses because Tiger was so dominating. Speigh is a technician who is better around the green.
Tiger is/was more like Wilt Chamberlin who dominated the NBA with his size and power. JS is Seth Curry who attacks you with his skill.
They are/were both great, just in different ways.

I never understood the Tiger Proofing thing. All the changes they made seem to work to Tiger's advantages.

Tiger was longer than everyone else but he also had one of the greatest short games of all time. Spieth will have an excellent career but he will never have the overall game and dominance Tiger had.

The Masters just isn't the same without Tiger. Something about Spieth isn't likable....I find myself rooting against him.

Exactly. How many people could even tell you where this guy played golf? Who follows college golf?

I've never understood the revisionist history about Tiger. No doubt he's the best golfer I've seen. Only got to see Jack from late 70's on. But he didn't make great TV. No personality. When he won, he won easily except for a couple of battles with historic greats like Bob May and Rocco Mediate. When he wasn't leading a tournament, he simply didn't make charges to overtake the competition.
