The Cincinnati Bengals lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XVI and XXIII.

The Denver Broncos lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXI and again to the Washington Redskins in Super XXII.

The Miami Dolphins, who were the first team to lose two Super Bowls in the 80s, were defeated by Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XVII and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XIX.
