Gibson was indeed 1. He was a great all around athlete and a star basketball player at Creighton. NBA talent, averaged 20 a game and a beast on the glass.

Fergie Jenkins is the other. You are up.

Gibson always intrigued me. He wanted to go to Indiana for basketball and the coach badly wanted him, but IU had it's quota for black players and would not budge. What might have been for what became one of the greatest pitchers ever? Instead he broke the color barrier for Creighton hoops, and played baseball .The rest is history

Which ACC team not named Florida State was the last to win the football conference championship and ACCT basketball championship in the same year and what year did they do it in?

First thought was Maryland in 2002... but then I saw it was ACCT, and not regular season title.

How about Georgia Tech in 1990? They won the national title in football that year - and made the FF. Don't know if they won the ACCT in 90, however.

There have been 5 American NBA Players that were born in Germany and played 5+ years in the NBA. By American, I mean they were raised in the United States. I want to say most of these guys were born on a military base. Name at least 2 of those 5 players.

Wasn't Carlos Boozer born in Germany? I seem to recall that.

Also, I know Dennis Schroder of OKC is from Germany, but can't remember if he's American or not. I'm also not entirely sure if he's been in the NBA for five full seasons yet.

Good question.

Boozer is correct. He was one of those military families. So either you or @Canadian Dukie can ask. Whoever fires a question off first, I guess... Schroder did not grow up in the United States, btw.

The 5 players I was looking for are:

Shawn Bradley
Carlos Boozer

and...

Anthony Randolph (LSU)
John Brown (Missouri)
Kiki VanDeWeghe (UCLA)

I think Kiki is the only one of the 5 who didn't come from a military family. But he certainly has German ancestry.

I would have never gotten any of those other three. I remember it now about Randolph, but it's been a long time since I've thought about him.

Making me do research on this one! Schrempf is an American citizen. But looks like he didn't move to the US until his senior year of high school. So I'm not going to count that. But certainly a very solid guess.

Yeah the guy KILLED us in '84 West Regional... OFC

During the 1989-90 NBA season, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic entered the NBA as expansion teams. Can anyone name the inaugural head coaches for both franchises?

Still remember the tragic airplane crash of All time Yankee catching great Thurman Munson. One of those guys you just couldnt replace.

Nonetheless Yankees had to move on in middle of '79 season. Who replaced Thurm behind the plate?

Brad Gulden, I believe. My mom was his babysitter growing up. Brad's family grew up just down the street.

That's the answer. I've been a little late for all of the questions I knew the answer to lately. Here's a fact about that day some may not know about. The Yankees had a ceremony for Thurman before the 1st pitch. All position players were in place and had their hats off except Gulden. He left the catcher position blank in honor of Thurman. I saw the game on television that day and sobbed like baby just like at Mickey Mantles funeral. The two saddest days as a Yankee fan. OFC

I'll wait for Hart's confirmation. To be honest, I'm not 100 percent sure it's Gulden....I just know Brad was considered the long-term heir apparent to Munson and was on the roster at the time. I played baseball against Brad's son for years. And Brad still wears his World Series ring all the time. After a few beers he'll tell stories....always is fun catching up with him.
