Jay Wilkerson. His dad Bud won 47 games in a row. Was coach and AD at Oklahoma.
Jay was first team All American and finished 8th in Heisman voting.
You are up.

That was a great question. I have a friend that named one of his sons after Jays Wilkerson and Calabrese. OFC

Actually I think the last name is spelled Wilkinson. Still an AWESOME question by hoops, and again I could be incorrect.I remember watching Bud in 60's on ABC's college fb game of the week.Until hoops explained that, I never knew about the connection.

Bob Verga and Adolf Rupp. Just note though. Although he didn't almost accept the Duke job hof coach roy williams did turn it down and Duke ended up with Coach K. Little known fact but he has turned everything else down. OFC

You are up. 1 out of 2 takes the cheese. Rick Katherman was the other answer. He was part of my 1967 freshman class . Denton, Evans, Litz and DeVenzio were the other 4.
I believe they had a combined high school senior year scoring average of 137 points a game.

I wish we had gotten Chuck Daly (Vic Bubas asst) after Vic left. Daly took Princeton job though. Memory serves his Princeton team defeated us by one point in Durham in very low scoring game (like 50-49 i think after Vic had left).

Katherman was lefthanded IIRC, and a deadly outside shooter. OFC

Hiring Bucky Waters set Duke back for several years. I read that he slowed down the face pace offense and several players transferred plus Evans decided to stick to football.
You are right about Daly. Even Hubie Brown would have been a great hire.

I would have loved to had Hubie- absolutely! Vic had two great assts in those guys. Yeah, Bucky managed to run off a lot of talent from an awesome freshman squad! (Blue Imps before freshmen eligibility as you know hoops!) OFC

If all of that had happened we may never have gotten Coach K and we probably would not have even been discussing this because most of the Duke fans that post here are post Coach K Duke fans and none of you would know who skysdad is so we needed Bucky , Neal and Bill between Bubas anD Coach K so there. Haha ...,Well Sky the part about knowing you is the most important my friend!

As far as the three between Vic and K, obviously Bill Foster was easily the best coach! Its a shame Waters ran off guys like Jim Fitzsimmons, Ron Righter, etc....He was not a players type coach...As for Neill, well he proved he couldnt devise a solid in-bounds play....

Good solid player for Duke. Like many other Dukies he seems to be forgotten. Thanks to acc hoops for bringing him up. OFC

Here’s an easy one.

Name six players from North Carolina that were recruited by and played for Coach K.

Don’t wait for approval to ask next question.

There's more. And they say Coach K doesn't recruit N.C. high school players.

3 part question from the 1960’s. In Durham
A. What was name of Italian restaurant behind “ The Ivy Room”? Rumor has it the owner was local bookie. Waitress did not take your order. You helped yourself to beer or soft drinks from cooler and ordered at window. There was no ticket. You just told them what you ordered and paid after eating.
B. What was name of cafeteria in warehouse district where new Bulls Stadium is located.
Meat, veggies and tea cost 1.25?
C. What was name of movie theatre off Main Street that showed foreign films?

Bat’s was name of hole in the wall behind Ivy Room
AB Morris was the cafeteria. 85cents was the fried chicken special w 3 veggies, bread and tea. Neat thing about the cafeteria was you had blacks and whites eating together which was rare in mid 60s Durham.
Criterion was the theatre. Like the Rialto it was torn down to make way for parking lot.
In 1957 it showed B Bardot topless causing quite a stir in Durham . Ironically before it closed it stopped showing foreign films and was X Rated theatre for a few years.
Enough of my reminiscing.
Will change my question to who was the Chem prof who was the assistant tennis coach under John LeBar for many years at Duke?
