Yeah it's Shack. I was watching the show that day. For those of you who may be in the dark with this Charles Shackleford was the guest playeron The Jim Valvano Show. The commentator madeva statement that Shackleford could shoot with either hsnd. That's when Shack responed that he had always been amphibius. Valvano just about fell out of the chair laughing. You just had to see it. You are up hart. OFC

Back to golf, we know Nicklaus holds the record for most majors with 18, and "Big Jack" has captured all 4 major championships.

However,who holds the most pro major championships w/o ever winning the PGA title? OFC

Tom Watson? I thought that he was tied with Palmer at 8. I know they both won the other three. Watson won 5 British Opens and came so close to a sixth at age 58 against Cink

Good answer, hart2 chesson. Tommy John was a great pitcher. You forced me to Google. He is not in the Hall of Fame. If I read it correctly, he has the most wins of any pitcher not in the HOF. 288 I think that I saw. He was pitching coach at UNC for three weeks. He learned to hate Coach Mike Roberts, so he retired to Indiana

ged thanks! I based it on several things- you gave great clues, lefty, HOF, and then longevity was a consideration. Seems like Carlton had a fairly long career, and even attempted a comeback or stayed TOO LONG past his prime, one or the other. OFC

Back to golf, and ged mentioned Arnold Palmer earlier. Arnie won his FINAL PGA TOUR EVENT in '73. Name the tourney he won....OFC

Not Newton. I think that he is pretty far down the list. He's only played four games because of covid-19. Some QBs have played six games. And Newton's passing on Sunday vs. Denver was awful

Blue Devils went into game 6-3 knowing in '88 at least, it would take at least 7 W's to get a smaller non football school to qualify for a bowl bid.Peach Bowl scouts were at the game, and Duke was considered a top candidate if they beat Dick Sheridan's Wolfpack (already probably locked in a bowl) in Raleigh.

There was no TV broadcast, but what a back and forth game offensively. Steve Spurrier's Blue Devils moved the ball all over the field and Duke led 43-40 late. State had 3rd and long and Duke intercepted. The celebration was premature, as Duke was called for what some observers called a "phantom" defensive holding penalty. It moved State into FG range and on last play of game Pack's Damon Hartman kicked a game tying FG.

Spurrier knew next week a win against Mack Brown's hapless 1st year 1-9 UNC team wouldnt be enough to qualify Duke for a bowl. A heated Spurrier told reporters post game following tie: "Thats the worse call in the history of Duke Football!!!" It caused Spurrier to be banned from sidelines for Duke-UNC game. Barry Wilson was interim coach next week. Duke eked by the Tar Heels 35-29 to finish 7-3-1, but no bowl.

Not bridgewater. Here's a big hint: his skin color is the same as bridgewater and Newton. Thanks for the recap of the 43-43 tie. Hartmann was good. I watched him kick four FG in 1990 to beat UNC 12-9. The last one was on the final play from 56 yards I think. It was definitely over 50. Last play of the game
