Thanks Sky....

'68 World Series and "Bullet" Bob Gibson of St. Louis rung up a record 35 strike-outs in "The Fall Classic." He also won two games, and pitched 3 COMPLETE GAMES.
Despite the lofty numbers, "Gibby" didnt win the Series MVP honor. A Detroit Tiger won the award. Name him....OFC

Sticking with baseball: What did "Five O'Clock Lightning" refer to
in the 1920's and 30's?

No. I didn't realize this would be that tough. There was a book written with this title. It had to do with a certain team that dominated the era.

Well the answer is Five O'Clock Lightning is the nickname given to the Yankees in 1927 and went through the first part of the '30s. The games started at 3 p.m. so they reached the 7th inning by 5 p.m. (games were faster then). The statistics showed the Yankees in that era scored a disproportionate number of runs in the 7th through 9th innings. A book was written on it that saw that period through the eyes of Tommy Heinrich.

I'll try again.

Who held the National League hits record before Pete Rose?

Nope, although that's a common answer. Aaron finished his career in the American League.

The correct answer is an underrated all timer in my opinion.

Unassisted triple play ?

Nothing to do about field play by the Rangers. It does have something to do with home runs. It never happened before this day in 1977 and never has happened again. On a thread somewhere I have told about this. OFC

I think they were both switch hitters. Did they both hit home runs in the same game from both sides of the plate?

No it. This feat was performed back to back and it was the only home runs hit by either player in this game. OFC

Walker Smith Jr. was better known as Sugar Ray Robinson. I only know this because my dad told me about a thousand times how rough it was to supervise construction worker Jake LaMotta in Newark NJ in the early 60s.
