I guess misery loves company. Stanford is looking really bad on Friday night vs. Utah. Their defense looks even worse than ours.

It's a dismal year for most academic schools. Duke sucks. Stanford sucks. Vanderbilt always sucks, we suck.

Wake is good so I'm rooting for them. Notre Shame...can't really lump them in with us.

I can't believe how bad the Stanford defense is. Down 35-0 in the first half. Their offense is a mess too. A lot of familiar names on their roster too, guys that we recruited on our A list.

I really don't like Stanford. Not hate like Mich ILL or ND, but dont like the "why cant you be like your brother." attitude w people think they are somehow a blue blood. They aren't. The last time they had a really good year, we beat them.. They are nothing special.. basically Io_a

I don't like Stanford because they compete against us for our top recruiting targets and we end up losing most of the time. So I don't mind if their football program is down. It's a great school though.

A guy with whom I worked 30-odd years ago was a Wake alum, and we had an annual bet on which of our universities would lose more games during a season. So, if NU can’t succeed this yea, I’m rooting for the Demon Deacons.

Can’t imagine Shaw being there much longer. Hilarious that some were pushing him as a potential NFL head coach- he would be a complete disaster at that level. Heck he’s turning Stanford into a mess

He’s been their head coach for 10 years and has 3 conference championships and in that timeframe set a new all-time wins record. Except for 2019 and this year, all of his teams have had 9+ wins - save 2014 went they went a dismal 8-5.

If that’s a mess, sign me up for a mess.

At this point, one might say the same about Fitz. He wins two division titles only to follow them up with train wreck type seasons. Fitz needs to right the ship ASAP to not only save the program, but his career. He has a 26 year legacy to maintain and to build on!!! It will be a shame if he lets it go.

Are you friggen kidding me? Shaw inherited a National Title caliber program churning out high NFL draft picks every year and turned it into a sub 500 performer. FItz inherited a sub 500 program that never won a bowl game and turned it into a consistent top 20 program with a streak of consecutive bowl wins. NU fans are clueless!

Not at all, the guy needs to have his feet put to the fire. To me that is part of the problem with Fitz, the guy is too comfortable and NU fans want to give him a pass. Why do you think OSU is where it is at? Woody set the bar rather high and the school expected that bar to be maintained. Sure he stretched the rules, but it goes to show set a high standard and the team will meet it. The University wants to make $$$$$ with a new stadium, but with the product being put out, they are going to be very disappointed.

Uhh, he inherited a program that had won 3 B1G titles in the not too distant past.

The 2 predecessors won a B1G title a good bit earlier than Fitz even won the (more manageable) West division.

While Shaw may need to change things up, at least Stanford still keeps beating the 2 top programs in the PAC on a regular basis.

When was the last time the Cats beat UM or PSU (nevermind dOSU)?

And Stanford doesn't lose to the likes of IL St.

LOL, is this a joke? That’s like trying to argue that Gary Barnett inherited a top big ten program from Ara. FItz inherited a .500 club from Walker’s last two seasons. Shaw inherited a 12-1 team from Harbaugh.

^ Shaw was Rose Bowl champ in his 5th year as HC, finishing 3rd in the polls, won the North in his 7th season and won 9 games in his 8th.

Harbaugh had that 1 great season in 2010 before he left (which Shaw matched, if not bested several times - since Harbaugh never won the PAC), not to mention Stanford's best recruiting classes were under Shaw.

The season prior to that, Harbaugh won 8 games.

In Walker's last season, the Cats won 7 games (difference being losing the bowl game) and was tied for 3rd in the conference (the prior season, the Cats finished 4th in the conf).

It's not like Stanford had a long run of success with Harbaugh.

It was 1 good season and 1 very good season.

As seen with Harbaugh's struggles at UM, the system that Harbaugh and Shaw have run has been superceded.
