My degree is in journalism and although my career led me in another direction, what goes on today in the media wasn't what I was taught. All the basics of "tip to trash can" are routinely ignored even with hard news organizations in favor of deliberate sensationalism.

BTW, I've learned to accept that cable personalities never intend to be fair or even completely truthful. They are in the entertainment business.....with an one sided political agenda.

My feeling is, that people are going to believe what and whom they want to believe, especially if it is a "source" they trust. I too was a Journalism major at OU and the emphasis on "honest" reporting and accurate sources was paramount. However, in the real world, every media outlet is slanted one way or another and now we have social media and opinion shapers like Rachel Maddow, Rush Limbaugh, etc., spinning stories to fit their narrative and the public falls in with those who bolster or support their opinions. "Fake" or "slanted news" has been around a long time, but people are finding other outlets that support their beliefs and anyting outside of that is not to be believed.

I am at the point where I don't read or watch what used to be the main stream news media. And, haven't for a long time. What we have for the most part is a bunch of idiots who haven't a clue as to how the rest of us live our lives. I see some of these 35 and under idiots who have no clue saying simply idiot things. They know nothing and have never done anything. They have no idea about how difficult it is to run a business and create jobs.

We are down to idiot sound bites to further some ideology.
