Yes, indeed. Arkansas was part of the Southwest Conference. At various times Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, SMU, TCU, Houston, Rice and Baylor were members. The Big Six was Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri. Colorado and Iowa State formed the Big Eight. I'm going from memory so there may be a team or two misplaced from the Big Six.For many, many years it was Arkie and 6 Texas schools.
