Nope. I was plainly referring to UT, the institution. Some folks are certainly against it, but opinions aren't the University of Texas.
I don't think they need gun in classrooms. Some aren't near mature enough. In the long run they'll probably have more negative shooting incidents than positive. The football players will meet there match in class. Charlie needs to let the older players keep up with the frat rats in the weapon dept.
It won't be the honest, law-abiding citizens who pass safety training, self-defense law training, rigid state background checks and FBI background checks starting problems. Which highlights the exact reason why law-abiding citizens would carry in the first place.
Don't hold your breath waiting for something bad to happen.
I don't like this law and feel it is a sad commentary on our society and where it's headed. Not pointing fingers or laying blame, but I wish that people did not feel that for them to be safe, it required them to carry a gun to go to a movie, class, church, grocery store, etc. Nothing to do now but see what happens....

I agree that Texas sucks...the university anyway. I carry a gun everywhere I go and that is my choice. I've never hurt anyone, have been a member of the military (twice) and feel that my option to carry the gun anywhere I choose is not only for my protection, but for others as well.
I feel I owe it to myself and to society to be able to defend myself from those who choose to ignore the law and commit crimes rather than choose to be a victim of a crime because I am afraid of what people may think about an inanimate object, that can harm no one on it's own, strapped to my side.
Police are minutes away when seconds count and I refuse to be a victim so that others feel safe from me when I am the one you want on your side when time is of the essence. I also want those like me who have gone through the same rigors to get their license on the streets. It is not us that you should fear.
The negative potential is what Progressives are counting on. They desperately want our guns.

I've been giving this some thought. If UT starts selling liquor in the classrooms, guns won't be allowed. Gun "problem" solved.
