All is not well in Dookie land. Coach K bans players from their locker room and wearing Dook apparel.

"He needs to do more than just take away their jerseys," added another source close to the program. "There are bigger issues that need to be addressed."

The last time Coach K took an extended leave in 1994-1995, Duke ended up being 2-14 in conference play.

The players are still the ones he recruited and the interim coach is the one he chose.

So, does his day to day coaching matter that much or is it easier to take an extended leave when you know your team isn't that good?

Well, his team SHOULD be good, it was preseason #1. I think coaching matters and Coach K is one of the best of all time. Jeff Capel, not so much.....

What about Gene Hackman

“Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit,” “Absolutely no shots until you’ve passed off four times”
and “15 feet to the foul line, 10 feet to the basket, the same measurements no matter which hardwood you play on"

I enjoyed watching Jim Calhoun coaching UConn back from a 15 point deficit in the closing minutes to win the National Championship over Duke. Duke totally collapsed.

Coach K must have taken a few too many vicodin in the last couple days. How stupid are these moves.

Krzyzewski is soooooooooo much closer to the nuttiness and head games of his mentor, the General, than he's given credit for. That one is right out of the Knight playbook.

Coach Collins would say that is just a stupid statement.

So would Jay Bilas ... and Jay Williams ... Mike Gminski ... and numerous Duke-grad oaches around the country.

The man has his PR machine working for him throughout the NCAA. He's a master of managing his message.

As Duke fan I am not a fan of Bilas or Jay. If one didn't know Bilas was Duke grad they would think he was a Tar Hole fan. Jay Will & Seth are just stupid.

Yes, and he made damn sure that the losses that year were tacked onto the interim coach's record, even though he was ostensibly still head coach and had been involved with the recruiting of those players. One of several reasons that, even though the guy can certainly coach Xs and Os, I don't worship at the Coach K altar.

1) Wooden
2) K
3) Knight
4) Smith
5) Calipari/Calhoun/Newell/Tark/Boeheim/???

Wooden was a great coach and would put him one except for a few reason's. The main one:

Wooden was nothing special at UCLA for almost his first 20 years there before he started winning title's. It was about this time a UCLA booster named Sam Gilbert gets involved. All of sudden the best high school talent in the nation starts arriving at UCLA. Not a mere coindence. I would suggest you google the name Sam Gilbert for the sordid details of his involvement with UCLA during those glory days.

I know all about Sam Gilbert. I know all about some of the dirty laundry in Coach K's closet as well. I'm not a fan of either, so I'm able to objectively look at both and come to the correct assessment of their place on the all-time list. You, however, seem to have a dog in this one so your assessment is hard to take seriously.

As I stated earlier your hatred of K clouds your objective assessment. Don't be a hater.

?

Who are you talking to? The person you called a "hater" doesn't have a post since you posted that. I'm the only person who responded to you and I think Coach K is great. I just don't root for either Duke or UCLA and happen to disagree with your take on Wooden. I think that Wooden's achievements make him higher on the list. What's "hater" about that? Sounds like you can' t handle someone disagreeing with your "impartial" idol worship.
