Early action has seen Oklahoma and Alabama getting heavy money and the Sooners have been bet up to a 3-point favorite and the Tide up to 9.5-point favorites.

at the Superbook:
Alabama is even money to win the national championship
Oklahoma 9/4
Clemson 5/1
Michigan State is 6/1.

Any thoughts on the above? I see the best "value" bet as taking Clemson (12-0 and no. 1 team) at 5-1 overall.

I also think 9.5 is a lot to give a team like Mich State in a game where the winning team may not score 20.

Haven't looked at too many other games, OSU was a big favorite over ND and Iowa and Stanford was about a pick-em, best I recall, those are two non playoff games I will definitely watch. I also like Houston +3 against Florida State, think the Cougars have a pretty legit shot to win straight up.

Alabama...wins it all...

Henry is an all timer...

Coker is legit...could probably be a heisman contender himself if he played on a team that needed him to put up numbers and be the star...

Calvin Ridley looks like he may be in Heisman talks before he's done...first round potential...

Saban is on a mission to right the wrong of last year...

Oklahoma can score a lot of points...should be a fun to watch them in what could be a high scoring shoot out with Clemson...edge to sooners...they have some magic mojo going with their QB...

Neither Clemson nor Oklahoma possess the type of defense it takes to win championships. Clemson is especially bad allowing an average of 27 PPG over the last 6 games. They were lucky to have survived both North and South Carolina.

If I were looking for an underlay I would take Michigan State. Bama looks like the odds on favorite but MSU's defense is capable of slowing down Henry & company enough to steal a win if they get a few breaks. And their offense is pretty good with Cook.

Never underestimate the Kiffin factor. They had tOSU by the throat last year and let it get away.

Strange stat about Mich State, including this year, they will have been underdog in their last 6 bowl games, but have actually won straight up four years in a row.

Clemson can't be happy with that draw, you know they prefer MSU.

I see bama and Oklahoma in the title, Michigan state does not have the legit weapons to tear up bam's defense. MSUs defense will help them but bama can throw it and of course run it. I think the Clemson and OK game will be a shoot out with ok getting the edge at the end.

Totally agree with this bit of handicapping. [winking]

I think Bama wins it this year, I don't really understand Clemson being the number 1 seed, Watson is a very good player who does a lot with his legs, but he hasn't faced the defenses he is about to face this year he is about to face. I will be mildly surprised if they get by OU, I still don't see how Texas beat them so they are capable of having an off game. MichSt could give Bama some trouble if their qb is able to run the ball, if he can't they will have a tough time scoring, Bama's defense is for real, that front 7 is just nasty, huge and fast, and they are 2 deep. But I think they can slow Bama down too, so it could be a low scoring game I just think Bama is able to score more because of Henry. I think its OU and Bama in the finals, and I think it will be a close tight game.

The only potential for a big win is OU against Clemson, Watson goes down, they have zero shot.
