I absolutely detested Stats class while at UK.

statistics, integral calculus, differential calculus...if you are going to be, you gotta take them. Doubt I would climb through an air duct on my worst day.. That is a sad case of dumb...(That's Scientist and Engineer "stuff". Yep, I know...)

Took me 5 solid years + summer school to graduate from UK just because of Calculas and Statistics. Have I ever used either one of them? Never.

Understood, you either have the head for that type stuff or you do not. Some reasoning may get you through it but I'm with you..I've never used it as taught but I do use the principals regularly.

I didn't have the patience for it. I wanted to chase girls, get drunk at The U Club and eat burgers with eggs on top of them from Tolly Ho at 2am. [laughing]

Either you don't understand it after all that time, or you're just not thinking about using it subconsciously.

I don't think there's a single subject that can make a greater difference in someone's thinking than statistics. Maybe taking a logic 101 class. I don't even think I'd trade it for the ability to spell.

Your ability to make wise choices in life, your ability to discern good from bad information, to understand the behavior of groups of people, to properly debate a point, to build wealth - these are all profoundly impacted by your understanding of probabilities.

I retired well shy of 50 after starting my own business in my late 20's. Thx.

I took a lot simpler approach at the time. My Dad was not well educated to say the least but he'd always state; "Be smarter than what you are working on..." I took that to heart...

As I mentioned - debate skills. Nothing in this quote negates anything that I said.

Sure it does. You went on a rant that I couldn't make good life choices or build wealth without Statistics knowledge. I've done both through common sense. Anyone with any common sense understands probabilities without ever having to open a stats book. I'll take common sense and social skills and you can have the internet debates.

Yes, and I am not trying to get between you two but I think what he was stating is that sub-conscientiously you use those skills to make the good decisions not even realizing it at times.

I really don't think it was intended as bashing. I may be wrong but I didn't perceive that. Be Good

That is exactly what my mom said when i popped out at the hospital.. Unfortunately though the doctors and hospital frowned on dumpsters as long term babysitters so she was stuck with me..

The best debating skill you can have is walking away from childish, unproductive ones. [laughing]

Well, if I'd made that point, you'd be doing a solid job of backing it up, because the choice you've made in life to keep misquoting me makes you look sillier and sillier with every subsequent post.

I don't know where you got the idea that there's a debate to be had. There is not.

Nothing in the bold letters is true. You objectively made a faulty interpretation of what I said.

Obviously the guy should just buckle down and learn the material. But I have to say I'm impressed with his ingenuity and nads. He just pushed his luck a little too far.

I love how everybody gave fake names and when called to get your food they'd announce it loudly. I used Rick Flair, said Wooooo! When called and strutted up to the counter. [laughing]
