Tamest I’ve ever seen Shinnecock. Something tells me we’re going to see the USGA toughen things up for the weekend.

Think winning score is -7. If Clark can hang on, it’s his. Only 10 players in the red. I did hear a surprising stat. Bryson hasn’t made a cut at a major in 2026. Think he needs to make less YouTube videos and get back to golf.

Clark with a scrambling/putting clinic today, topped off by that amazing eagle on 16 and then another fantastic par on 17. If he finishes at -8 that's 7 up on everyone and conditions will be much more benign tomorrow - could allow someone to go low. Although with his volatility, if he starts badly and Scheffler starts well (they'll be paired tomorrow), things could get interesting.

Only 5 guys in the red. Can Clark hang on? Think the winning score is -5. Scottie chases him down in the playoffs.

Clark just bogeyed 13. He has a 2 shot lead over Burns and 3 ahead of Scheffler, Tom Kim, & Mitchell. Leader in the clubhouse is JT Poston at even par.

Crowd is VERY anti-Wyndham. Not really surprising with him being paired with Scottie, but it feels like it’s pushing unruly.

Edit: Burns birdies the par 5 16th…he’s one back of Clark. And he hits it to 8 feet on the par 3 17th.

Spoke to a couple buddy’s from Long Island that went to the open Friday and Saturday. They were surprised at how few attendees there were outside of the corporate event areas. They had corporate access. Crowd looked exceptionally small yesterday and today. Not as bad Friday.

Not surprised. It’s a hike to get out there and a lot of competing events.

I was pulling for Burns. He got hosed at Oakmont. That putt on 18th looked good and it even took a slight peek before rolling past. Shinnecock didn’t disappoint. Those greens are borderline gimmicky.

There are incredible courses on LI but the fans make it all so bad. They should stop having tournaments there. It's unbecoming for golf.

I think the smaller crowd was fatigue. People were just at the Ryder Cup last year, but Shinnecock is a much harder place to get to.

The yelling after shots is ridiculous. You just know the guy that does it is slapping his buddies and laughing about it. I also think the impact of youtube golf, where they are not always the most etiquette-influencers, can't be ignored.

Question...was there actually a smaller crowd? Seemed like the USGA sold the ticket allotment that they wanted to sell, so was it a matter of the crowd actually being smaller, or just people leaving earlier due to transportation issues?

PGA crowd was small as well. At least for the PGA the food is included. Based on booking tee times, more golf fans are preferring to play a round than go to an event. Seems like the tour has lost some mojo since COVID/LIV starting up.

I remember a dust up at the Waste Mgmt so looked it up. The Tour is also dealing with douches like this guy.
