Agreed. I too would like to see government spending greatly stripped back.

We could start by cutting the massive subsidies given to corporations. They already received their crowning achievement via massively reduced corporate tax rates in the 80s. They dont need to be subsidized.
Yeah, that is not spending. Not in any twisted contortion of the collectivist mind.

Really. Where do you think the money that was going to be collected from them would have gone?

Unless you're implying the budget and spending are somehow not intertwined?

Like some have said, I am for ID to vote but most of the cheating by the libs is the mail in ballot, like probably 95% of it.
Here in crooked California I’ve gone to bed on election nights with republicans ahead by like 4-5% only to wake up to literally ALL of them being behind by the late night magical ballot dumps of “mail in “ ballots.
Here in CA it’s like 60-35 favoring libs and you’re telling me that magically 95% of mail in voters are all libs?
I prefer no mail in ballots and ID together. It’s no shock that the no voter ID and mail in states are won big by Libs
Of course, they don’t give a **** about cheating as long as it helps them.. or fraud for that matter… and so on

Im in favor of requiring voter ID, simply so the topic can be behind us. That said - to play devils advocate - there is still one major flaw with this concept.

No. It isnt the "creating a barrier to vote" (though we could do away with this by not charging for IDs) the bigger issue is what voting fraud has been found has been done almost entirely via mail in voting. In person voting has a statistical near zero chance of voter fraud already.

So the actual blind spot to cover is mail in ballots. Where this requirement wouldn't shore anything up.
Do you even know what’s in the SAVE act?

it was interesting when epstein was talking to bannon about subprime mortgages, and how clinton used carter's community reinvestment act to force banks to do predatory lending to make the housing bubble...which 0bama bailed out while he printed 17 trillion....that really put the US on shaky footing deficit spending.

Claiming to be eligible to vote when being issued a state ID does not simply allow one to use said ID to vote. That claim is cross references against the social security database. They can check "yes I can vote" all they'd like. But if an illegal immigrant attempts to vote using said drivers license - they would be turned away.
I got my information from article I read on a Seattle news site that stated the employees of the Department of Licensing knowing were signing up unqualified people to vote. I am not up on immigration law as I was born in the US to US born citizens but can people with green cards or have another legal status such as student visas get a social security number? These residents would not be eligible to vote.

I have a friend who was an exchange student at my high school. This person liked it so well that they went to the University of Nebraska, got married, got a job, became a citizen, founded a company, built a building in downtown O and has a family living in Nebraska. I know for a fact this person had a job that would require at least a driver's license when we were in college. I worked the same job three summers. This was back in the seventies, and I don't think it was as big a deal.

The Left: “It’s time for a woman president”
Also the Left: “Women are too stupid to fill out basic forms”
Ha, you stole that from a tweet! Come on. That is ******* sad! Hahaha

This is a post board, what kind of a loser do you have to be to steal a joke???

With that said, I love the joke and I kind of love that you stole it and tried to pass it off as your own.

What is next? Drinking, creeping on girls half your age and not being able to have an adult relationship??? HAHAHA

Looking for an honest dialogue with left leaning members. Polls show 83-86% of voters support voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote. Over 70% of Democrats support this. And yet, the Democratic Senate refuses to allow this to move forward. All Democrats in the house voted against this bill. They continue to use their worn out excuses for not requiring an ID to vote while society requires ID much less important items.

(ironically, the Democrat party requires photo ID to enter their convention)

1. Do the left leaning people on this board accept the Democrat talking point that ID is just too much to ask?
2. Do you honestly believe there is no voter fraud and it’s just a coincidence that Democrats don’t want voter ID and still fight to the bitter end for mail in ballots?

Over 180 countries require voter ID. I don’t understand… In all honesty… How someone can support a party that appears to be so corrupt and will not vote for a common sense bill that 70% of their base supports. I am guessing some of you may shrug your shoulders and say ”I disagree with them on this issue… But no big deal.” I see this as a monstrous issue for any republic to survive.

Help me understand…..
I thought this board was free from politics!

Nice idea. But, good luck getting private industry to abide. There are multiple national holidays I don't get time off for.
Yeah, I suppose since voting is not mandatory it would be hard to make private industry comply.

No way in Hades is California 60-35 Democrat.

I see it more as 55-45 Democrat. This is the California voting map from 2020 vs 2024.

Live in Washington and we have mail-in voting. I like it. You are required to register to vote so ballots are only mailed to registered voters. State employees working in the Department of Licensing can register people to vote when they get a driver's license. Here is where fraud has occurred as some of these state employees have registered people they know do not meet the requirements to be eligible to vote. The state hands out driver's licenses like candy. That is why TSA requires any Washington resident who fly to have an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL). To get an EDL proof of citizenship is required. This requirement has only been enforced by TSA the last year or so. I've had an EDL for years. An EDL also allows me to go to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean by foot, car or boat without a passport. Only Washington, Minnesota, Michigan and NY issue them.
If you're too lazy or inconvenienced to vote then you shouldn't vote

Elections for federal positions, absolutely.
The federal government should always be invited into the states, not the other way around. They do not get to dictate how states run things outside of interstates and some civil rights. States can be degenerate and stupid and if they are it would take a will of god to get congress to agree on something like a civil rights bill, but otherwise, Washington needs to eff off.

Lifelong republican that switched to independent in 2017. I don’t consider myself left leaning, just right thinking, so maybe I am of no concern to the OP.

A driver’s license or state-issued ID should be required. And checks to match the database before vote is counted. But in my experience this has always been the case. I live in Colorado which now has mail-in ballots. It’s a nice system. You don’t get a ballot unless you are registered/verified ahead of time.

I was an election judge for my precinct in 2006. This was before the change to mail ballots and they had the voter machines. I served as an election judge to see how the process worked, and I thought it was all above board. But sub-optimum. In-person voting on one day has some major inherent flaws compared to mail-in ballots.

One drawback to that old system is that you could easily show up in the booth on Election Day and be confronted with issues you have no awareness of. With the mail-in ballots you can see what you are being asked to vote one and have 2-3 weeks to research the things you are unsure about.

Husker 88, the map means nothing, The Blue area of the state has the much larger, dominant population compared to the Red area. The Blue has San Fransico, LA, San Diego and all along the coast. You can't go by the amount of area on the three West Coast states. Oregon the vast majority of the state is Red, but Portland and the Willamette Valley (the most populous area) are solid Blue. Eastern Oregon talks of seceding to Idaho. Washington is almost all Red except for King, Pierce, Kitsap and Snohomish counties (Seattle, Tacoma, Bremerton, and Everett) that has all the population, King County alone has more people than Nebraska. The Red area of Oregon and Washington are made up of high desert, mountains, wheat, cattle and ag lands. Isn't that true for Nebraska as well. I am no expert, but I bet Omaha and Lincoln are far Bluer than the rest of the state. Sometime in the future the Nebraska Legislature will probably be controlled by the Democrats as the Lincoln and Omaha grow and the rest of the state loses its population. I drive throughout Southeast and South-Central Nebraska every May. I do not see much growth, but I see it from Lincoln to Omaha.

When will those of you on the left Admit you support a party that is corrupt and cheats in elections?

Your own leaders are lying to you about voter ID and I’m not sure many on the left care. Look at the New York communist, requiring multiple forms ID just to shovel snow. He must be racist and not want blacks and women to apply.

Do you get it yet? Since most of you won’t speak up about it we are left to assume you know they are cheating (and lying to you ) and do not care as long as they do not get caught.

I believe it used to be in some states that in order to absentee vote you had to do so in front of a notary public. Now states like California they just mail out ballots to the last known address of all citizens of voting age
