Maybe some of you great posters have paid attention to my hints that I've been dealing with early Alzheimer's for the last couple of years. I think I've dealt with it pretty well but yesterday I couldn't find my car keys. So I've been looking for them all day knowing damn well they were here in my house somewhere. I just found them in my underwear drawer. Folks. I have no idea how they got there. I've also looked at some of my posts over last week or so and some of them just suck. I have enjoyed so much being apart of this board but feel it's time to go back to just lurking like I did for such a long time before I got the nerve to post my first. I'll be reading but Oklabama....out. Don't worry. I'm okay.

I haven't noticed any specific change in your posting. But you and only you know what's up. If you have to stop posting, lay down for a bit on posting til the season starts up!

Sounds as though this has been a Super-Charged Day for you, Oklabama. Searching for Lost _ _ _ _ _ fill in the blanks...WHATEVER, but Keys are high on my list, too. Why not reserve that decision for a few? Take a step back, if need be, but Leaving is a really BIG Step. I'd like to encourage you to re-think this 'Over, and Out' Idea. Take a break, refocus, and perhaps a Plan B will present itself.

I'm selfish...This board wouldn't be the same without YOU! Hope you'll decide to keep on keepin' on, but if that has no appeal, please know that you'll be Missed, Big Time!

You have MANY FRIENDS, here, and I'll take the Liberty of saying that they join me in this...

One day at a time OUr great friend. My maternal Grandmother and her mother succumbed to what they used to call senility or dementia. My Mom is 82 & still sharp as a tack so I may be on my way. We all are messed up beings and are guaranteed nada. My favorite posts of yours are the self-deprecating "Soonerbla bla..." type. Keep the faith for #8 this year brother. We'll pretty much know after week 2

Hate to see you go oklabama as I enjoy reading all Sooners posts, we all have our own opinions and thats what makes the board great. I suffer from Sometimers myself and I am not making light of your situation at all. Sometimes I post when I should keep my mouth shut and sometimes its when I had a few too many but I don't think anyone here takes an opinion personal. I just turned 50 on the 24th of April and I was asked for my ID today at Kroger, I have not been asked to show my ID in forever so I was all giddy until I was asked how many grandkids I have? I don't have any. Not sure if its a plus but I was told a few days after I turned 50 that I can join a senior workout center for about 25.00 a month in the town I live in. I was depessed at first but then I was like hell yeah age has its privlidges I guess so I am in!
Hope all is going to be ok bama. To tell you the truth 50 has me a little bummed out. My Mom who is in her 70's told me its all downhill from now on after 50. Whaaaaat? Thanks MOM!

yeah, well I'm not accepting this, Dude. Keep posting; there are plenty of us who'll make you sound like Churchill, no matter how bad a day you're having. And there are plenty others who can't read anyway.

You are NOT excused, Duderino. Don't make me send you down for another look.

And you are most definitely in my thoughts.

There is a thing called Tile that can help you find your car keys or cell phone or anything else. You attached it to your car keys then you can go on your cell phone and cause it to ring. Or if you have your car keys but can't find your cell phone you can press the little Tile and the phone will ring.

If not remembering putting your keys in your underwear drawer is a sign of progressing alzheimer's, then I might be a medical miracle in the first human with alzheimer's in their early-20s.
I've been losing stuff without trace or memory for decades.
Man up and keep posting.

Suggestion my mom used to finish a crossword puzzle every day to help keep her mind sharp.

Oh, you're okay Oklabama. Many times I have lost my mind. Large quantities of any or all mind altering substances available will guarantee a 72.8 percent success rate?. I once woke up after a long crack binge, and I was driving an unfamiliar vehicle that I hadn't been in before. Soon after, I was riding in the backseat of a very familiar vehicle...

If I can cut the four 'corners' & fry the heck out of it, I'd still eat one...
Have your Butcher cut you some of his leanest Bologna/Baloney into THICK Slices...Throw 'em on the Grill until you get good Char Marks, then serve as a really Good Horse Do Overs...They serve them @ Jamil's, and other nice Lebanese/Mediterranean Restaurants...

Yeah Dad used to get big chubs of bologna & bbq with a rotisserie way back when. Good stuff. My Grandpa always called it 'dog' when he'd bring it home from the butcher...
My Grandpa called it 'dog', too...First time he said 'I'm gonna have a 'dog' sandwich, want one?' I was horrified. No way! He finally talked me into taking a bite of his, and it was my intro' to Yummy for my Tummy! Never knew anyone else called it 'dog', ia...

I love South Carolina's balogna sandwiches with the balogna on the grill for a few seconds. Arkansas and Pennsylvania has their little hot spots where wonderful balogna sandwiches can be found.

For chicken noodle soup? Nebraska. Cinnamon rolls? Oregon.

Exactly what part of the horse is the do over?
It's Throwback Thursday, V, so that's a nod to my sons, when they were young. They couldn't quite get Hors d'oeuvres, so made up their own name for them. It stuck! We did that a lot...Play on words, and have fun with it! To this day, we enjoy using that early family lingo, and we're able to carry on a fairly decent conversation. People say that we speak our own language...It's True! ;)

Can anyone speak Tutnese? I can, but My Mother, and her Siblings, who spoke it fluently, are all long gone, so I have no one to talk with. Her twin brothers taunted me with it, knowing how frustrating it was for me to be unable to understand them. They called it Tut Latin. They were surprised, and Proud! when I learned to speak it.

Interestingly, this piece cites Maya Angelou as learning Tutnese at an early age. Her reasons were much more meaningful than mine...

Oklabama, I'm sure you'll find it necessary to post a comment sometime in the future. You'll be welcome whenever that moment arrives.

The difference between old age and Alzheimer's:

Old age is when you can't remember where you left your keys.

Alzheimer's is when you can't remember what they're for.

Hang in there, friend.

I really appreciate your post, opk. I know that I won't be able to resist posting all together. Just not as much. But I will be reading every thread. I am looking forward to football season.
