In todays politcal world I am suprised the left has allowed this dispute. Youtube TV users now don't have access to some huge platforms for them. ABC News is very left leaning and we all know the ESPN Talk Shows tilt. Not too mention shoews like the view and Jimmy Kimmel are no longer available to a portion of society. I hate both sides and think they are all crooks and creeps so this isn't politcial. It is just an observation.

Unfortunately, they go by address.
This makes no sense. So if you move and the new owner at your old address sets up Comcast they will not be getting new customer discounts, and will be tied to your plan?
I cycled through my name, kid's name. my name, kid's name for 8-10 years without any issues.
Each time I set up new service under new name and Comcast sent out the new equipment.
Then I cancelled the old service and returned the old equipment.
I switched to Internet only with Fubo a year ago.

I'm very serious thinking about leaving Comcast so who do you recommend and why. Thanks in advance.

YouTube TV, Roku, or whoever?
I had Spectrum TV here in Texas and kicked them to the curb and only use them for high speed internet. I have 7 tv’s with each using Roku / Hulu combo and have had zero drama. Also run 4 iPads through the connections with good results.

No but once you're on board they match your name and contract with your address so you can't pull such shenanigans. When moving you discontinue service or move your account to another address. Email with them always goes something like this, [email protected] 59 being your street address. When moving within the same town your email address would then switch to your new street number.

I know Comcast is pricey but that seems really high to me.
I have their Internet and cell phone package and the higher speed service and it's, roughly, $90 a month.
I was surprised that when I moved from Baltimore to Las Cruces that Xfinity/comcast is about $45 a month cheaper here. 🤷‍♂️
BB,

You Relocated from Baltimore to Las Cruces, appears to be wonderful place to live. Glad for you.
I guess you won't be getting on the game bus along Atherton, headed to the Beaver. Maybe an Aggies fan headed for Aggie memorial Stadium 🤷‍♂️

I couldn't convince the 3 possibly 4 people I talked to that NM was indeed part of the US. But then I shouldn't have expected "Randy" and "Becky" from India to know that.

Thanks. Its a much more laid back lifestyle it really is the land of Mana.
I think the weather here is awesome. We do get 4 seasons it just stay cold for more than a couple of weeks and it will snow but melts pretty quickly. The dust storms can be a PIA though. LOL.

My sister and I gave up our tickets 2 years ago.
The Aggies are a fun team to watch and you can pretty much walk right in. I will say I may have been one of the first on the Diago Pavia band wagon.

In our case, use the antenna and OTA Tivo for ABC local, and Hulu for other stuff including ABC stuff aired previously. I couldn't care less about ESPN, it's basically SEC and ACC games and a few NFL games I can do without. My wife watches more TV than I do, but I think she's coping without the Disney stuff - she's most upset that YTTV took away all her recordings. But most of the stuff she recorded is on Hulu - I think. We're still on a special deal with Hulu from last Black Friday - that expires at the end of this month. Hopefully this mess will be resolved by then.

Cut the chord this summer. Went with Comcast WiFi, Hulu Live, (ESPN+, Netflix, Peacock streaming package) and switched cell phone from AT&T to Comcast. On the combination, saving over $300/month. Went to the Comcast store, took an hour and half to 2 hours, but the service rep did everything for me. Came home and typed in passwords and haven't had a problem.

Cable navigation is much simpler. Also, very possible that I don't know all (or any) of the Hulu tricks.

Haven't missed anything I usually watch and also have more options.

Unfortunately Hotwire Fision. Don't have a choice as the HOA made it for me. It sucks.
But you’re not contractually obligated to use Hotwire’s TV feed, are you?

It’s fiber optic to your house so I’d stream a service since speed isn’t an issue

Do you have any good, elevated locations which you use to escape the summer heat?

I've had Dish network for TV service in MD for decades and I've been reasonably happy with them. We have Verizion Fios for internet service. One thing Dish does now is if you are watching something and you get heavy clouds/storms which interrupt the satellite signal it automatically switches over to their internet service "Dish Anywhere". It's pretty seamless and rarely happens. The only thing Dish doesn't have that I wish I could get is YES network. Dish anywhere is decent but could be better.

We have Xfinity aka Comcast in Colorado and it's ok but not great. Works for what I want.

Streaming services I pay for Netflix, Amazon, and mlb.tv for baseball. I use mlb a great deal and it's worth the money as it let's me watch the Yankees wherever I am.

I pay for it through my quarterly HOA bills, so it doesn't make sense not to use it.

I stick with Blue Ridge Cable. They have nice studio facilities for local programming, including a lot of high school sports from the area. But they never had BTN:(

VSee box. Every channel imaginable. Over 40,000 video on demand movies, Over 15,000 TV series. $250 one-time payment.
Let us know next yr at this time what channels you do and don't have. Had stuff like this over the yrs and it's always too good to last.

I use the cable streaming replacements for sports. We do not watch traditional tv shows with commercials - the only “tv” shows we watch are on netflix and appletv. I have had Fubo, Hulu Live and Sling in the past. They are all decent, but now I am on Directv streaming (not the dish) MySports package and it is perfect for sports and minimizes the other fluff for only $60 to start and $70 normally. I know there was a lot of talk between ESPN and Fox to create a sports only streaming service, but I’m not sure they will ever get that going and this directtv package is the closest you can get to an all sports streaming service. I only pay $70 for 300 mbps Internet, partially because I saved the $10 on the cable modem and just purchased my own modem .

Am I the only person that just can’t wrap my head around it all? I’ve never invested any time in understanding the landscape because I’m not a big media consumer. But every single time I have a conversation with somebody that tells me how cheap and easy their solution is after a couple questions I realize there are gaps relative to my expectations, and there’s some active management involved in handling the gaps.

I've had it for 5 months now. They keep adding shows and channels. My DirectTV bill plus the various streaming bills I had were well over $200 per month. Probably pushing $250. Today I will have my choice of any college game I want including many DII games, tomorrow any NFL game I want. Flo racing, Flo wrestling and any PPV out there. My only complaint is they dont have DVR and you can't run more than one tv from the box. This has easily paid for itself even if it fails today.

Good deal, hope it lasts, not sure I could do without the DVR though.

The 'local' HOA can dictate the name and demand payment each month - normally at a rock bottom price (if not, investigate - Fision is terrible), but you can get Comcast over and above what the HOA says. I have done this many times, and Comcast wants customers.

Roku is really just a streaming platfor but you an do some local stuff. Who are you using to provide the internet? Also YoutubeTV is fighting with Disney right now and as of today ESPN, ABC, FX...are currently all dark.
Roku streaming uses so much WiFI bandwidth that it will interrupt internet service is a large neighborhood area. totally crap.

I don't find the heat that bad but yes Ruidoso is only a couple of hours away and the same for Silver City and about an 1.5 hours to Cloudcroft.
An aspiration of ours was to retire in Cloudcroft NM. Eight to Nine K elevation appeals to us as to the mountains. Have you visited Ruidoso or Cloudcroft?

I've been with Satellite Directv for 30 years and I find the prices high ($210), but I've always been satisfied with their quality including 4K. I'm also part of a beta testing group and have installed all my new equipment over the years.

What? Your wifi sucks apparently. I am surrounded on all sides by homes in a neighborhood, all have wifi networks I can see from my home, and don't have any issues with this. Any high speed ISP should be just fine. I've had two different ISPs, one with only 150Mbps and the other is 1Gbps download speeds and all streaming apps I run on my Roku have been rock solid... Netflix, Youtube TV, Amazon Prime, Peacock, etc.
