New York City - Driving back from Maine we had to take the GW Bridge which is two levels; the issue though is you have a tiny merge window where you have to cross three lanes of traffic to get on the bridge and it’s brutal.

Drove in NYC one time, was immediately cussed out by a cop the second I entered Manhattan.

edit: COP NOT COPY

I look at something 10 times and don't see the typo.

I hate I4 so much. And 75 while were at it. You can never relax; either someone is going too slow in front of you, or someone is up your *** the second you get in the left lane. So many slow downs for no damn reason.
We lived in Orlando for a number of years and moved north at the turn of the century. Have been back at least once a year since -- most recently in January. Specifically for the portion of I-4 around Orlando (from 192 to Sanford), I-4 was always bad at certain times of the day. Over the years it got to the point that for the last decade-plus we avoided it completely. But the last two times I was down we tried the "Pay-your-way" center lanes and were very pleased. Hope that continues!! Going back in four months.

My business and pleasure driving never quite puts me in the area to use those express lanes. They should at least free-up the other lanes. Certainly an improvement.

It's the exits southwest of Orlando that are really annoying. We're in bumfudge egypt, why is this on-ramp causing a major slow-down? Like Lakeland is some metropolis.

Odd no one mentioned Nashville with all the left lane and right lane exits, It’s a merge mess to the max at rush hour

Fredericksburg and just a bit north... there seems to be a perpetual orange/red/black zone on my map app there. I know that was the area years ago when the snowstorm hit that people ended up spending a day out there.
If you’re referring to the pileup c.2001, my best friend’s parents were the lead car that was avoiding a deadly crash with an 18 wheeler that caused the whole thing. They were not seriously injured.

Most aggressive bat shiit crazy drivers are my home town, Boston
Where stop signs are considered a suggestion and 4-way stops a competition. My buddy, who lives there, says that the key is to never make eye contact because "then they know that you see them". One the most exciting thrill rides that I have ever experienced was a cab ride from Logan to downtown.

I know what you're saying. I had stores in the Lakeland, Tampa Bay Center, West Shore, Eastlake, University and Countryside malls over in that area so drove to Tampa regularly for a number of years, but that stopped in '95. On those rare occasions when I do go that way, I'm shocked/amazed at how the traffic is these days!

Tampa was probably an incredible place to live in the 90s. Still was when I got here 20 years ago. Now, not so much. Not like I ever leave my house... I could be in Oklahoma and could only tell from the dearth of places to order on Doordash.

We drove from Central Maryland down to Glen Allen VA for Thanksgiving a couple years ago. We left at 5:30 in the morning, hoping to beat traffic, roughly a 2 Hour drive from our house to theirs. we made fantastic time until we got about 8 to 10 miles north of Fredericksburg. At that point it was bumper-to-bumper for the next 15 miles where we were going about an average of 15 miles an hour. Then all of a sudden once we got through that 15 mile stretch, everybody was driving 80 miles an hour. I know it was Thanksgiving day, but it was 6:45 in the morning and we still hit 15 miles of traffic.

Interstate 70 in St. Louis has the shortest merge lanes anywhere, brutal.

Columbus can be hard too, around the German Village I70 has been under construction since Earle Bruce was coaching.
India…pick a city. I will select Hyderbad.

Depending on your definition of "incredible"... 😉... the original Hooters was on 60 on the other side of the Courtney Campbell, and Mons was right near the Sombrero (and later Ray Jay), so football players (PSU included) had a place to use their stipends!

Don't worry, Mons is still there, last time I checked, spaceship across the street.

Unfortunately all the best clubs are up in Pasco on 19.

On topic, 19 is not so horrible anymore with all the overpasses.

Fact. They say Nashville is the next Atlanta - I’m not sure how it can get much worse than it is now.
Maybe it’s got worse in two years but the last two times I’ve been to Nashville the traffic wasn’t that bad. 24 and 40 had slowdowns but nothing worse than Baltimore or dc beltways

The 24/40/65 loop around the city has become worse IMO. What 2 years ago took 45 minutes at 3PM now takes 75 to 90 minutes for me. Terrible.

I loved my job but I don’t miss the commute. Ten minutes extra every year.
I can’t wait to retire (at least 20 years from now), drive to Starbucks and critique coffee and baked goods, yell at little kids and get the finger from multiple people per day. Yes even @BobPSU92’s day is better than work!

Spent most of my time there in the south and east parts, is that where all the growth is?

South still growing and east is too but the north where I am (30 min north of downtown) is supposedly the fastest growing area in the state. Lucky me!

try riding a motorcycle the length of the Jersey Turnpike, crossing the GW Bridge and taking 95 north to New Haven, then 81 north to Vermont.

then talk to me about traffic

I’ll admit I have not been east of State College or in several of the places mentioned. Curious how Chicago is not mentioned.

It's all about the traffic. I live in St. Louis now and have had commutes in Atlanta, Houston, and South FL, St. Louis is a piece of cake compared to all of them. Atlanta was the worst.

The worst place I ever drove in was Malaga, Spain. There is a huge traffic circle in which cars in the circle are supposed to yield to cars coming from outside the circle. It was quite the unpleasant surprise.

The Bronx/Queen Expressway (BQE). No other place in my experience is even close. It makes the Schuylkill Expressway or Parkway East look like a country road.

Not to rub it in to some, but this was my commute for a few years. It didn't suck.
