In the least shocking news ever, he tore his hamstring and is out indefinitely again. After finally being in shape he will probably put on the pounds again. That dude is gonna make 500 million dollars and won’t play 300 career games. People say Davis is always in street clothes but he plays a heck of a lot more than Kawhi, Paul George, Embiid, and Williamson.

Hamstrings sure be tearing a lot lately.

Davis has settled in to his own body and has avoided the injury bug for a few years now, thankfully. I’m not sure embiid should be medically cleared to play basketball at all.

I think it’s because of specialized sports now. Back in the day guys played year round and 3 sports if the were athletic stars. You would think with all this tech it would be avoided but it seems like meat and potatoes and classic weights led to less injuries to me.

I hate to see anyone get hurt like that and really hate it for the franchise. They had very high hopes with Zion for sure and have spent a ton of money. It’s going to set them back ten years now and that’s hard to get over. Best of luck to him and hope he comes back and has a good rest of his career. I think everyone knew how it was going to go with him but he sure was a fun player to watch when in shape and healthy. Even with the thought he may have a hard time staying healthy and in shape, they almost had to choose him first coming out of college. Would like to see him get it together and live up to all that potential.

Love to see it but he seems destined to rehab his entire career.

I think also today athletes try to max out their muscles, making them tight, just on the verge of tearing. Actually, the whole process of building muscle is tiny tears that then heal.
I like what the KC QB Mahomes has done, trying to keep a certain amount of body fat to add padding for all of the pounding he takes during the season, while still trying to be "athletic". Endurance and recovery are also parts of being athletic.

2019 looking back wasn't the strongest draft for star power. Quite a few role players.

Ja Morant is the most successful and even he is having legal issues or injuries now days.
Yeah, no wonder the NBA folks have been looking to Europe more.

Yeah, I'm afraid Williamson is destined for a short career. How many games has he already missed due to injuries? It seems he's missed almost as many as he has played. Has he played a season without injury? I don't believe he has. It's his weight primarily that is the issue from what I can see. His quickness and athleticism puts him into positions where he's falling and having impacts at high speeds and from high heights. And those kinds of collisions with his weight are very hard on joints and the entire body. I hate to say it and I feel for him, but I believe it's true. There are rare exceptions for guys at that level to be able to have a long career- Charles Barkley was an exception.

A lot of us were calling it back when he first got drafted. That body of his just can't handle the stresses he puts on it. He would have been better off playing football in my opinion.
How is it that so many fans immediately saw what professional talent evaluators didn't, namely, he's way too heavy to survive an 82-game schedule? Plus, he plays a pretty physical brand of ball and he's gonna take some knocks. If he's All-World for only 20 games a year, pretty good for 20 and misses 40, how can he be worth a #1 pick? At some point, all these injuries will have accumulated to the point that his ceiling is permanently lower than even just a few years ago and that will only accelerate as age and injuries accumulate. It's too bad but the argument can be made that he wasn't dedicated to getting in tip top shape until this year.

Yes but that step between 250 and a 39 vertical vs 285 and a 45 vertical is a huge difference.

Zion's living the life. Getting paid tens of millions of dollars to get fat on cajun food. Can't say I blame him.

Darius Garland says hello. He is having a very good career. This year he is averaging 20 / 7. Not a one hit wonder. He is very efficient also, 54/48/95 shooting line. 48% from 3 is off the charts, 54% overall is really good. We all know 95% from the FT line is elite also. Career 39% from 3, he is taking better shots on a very balanced and contender in Cleveland. They have a very nice team now not depending so much on Donovan. 6 guys average double figures. AS a TEAM they average 42.2 from 3, 168/398. They MAKE over 15 3s per game.

2023- 18 points / 6.5 assist
2022- 22 points / 8 assist
2021- 22 points / 8.5 assist.

10's of Millions ? Try 100's. 5 year / $197.25 Million, $40 Million annually. that is his new contract, he made millions before signing a new deal. This deal runs from 23-27. His career earnings is $114,392,217.

I remember this older article about AD and it mentioned hypermobility and how his strength training/ conditioning improved over the years. As someone who lives with this syndrome, I’ve often wondered if they were speaking generally about his athleticism, or if he is genuinely hypermobile (it would explain a lot of the injuries he’s prone to).

Yes we did. We said it then and i will say it again now - he played the wrong sport. If hes that big and explosive with no weight training, he would be generational on the football field.

Instead he was just a great athlete that couldn't stay healthy in basketball.

Shame.

Yeah it sure looks that way. It’s a real shame for the fans of basketball to. He was really fun to watch play.
Exactly. If that dude had stayed on the course he seemed to be on his freshman year he would have ended with Jordan-like fame.

l called this while he was at Duke due to his size and crazy hops. Knees, joints, cartilage wouldn’t hold up. I was blasted by several. Don’t recall who and don’t really care, but I was correct. I hate it for him, but when you’re injured and put on all that weight what do you expect. He’s great when fully healthy.

Good opening least shocking news ever.

It was a weird draft..so I can see why you'd take a shot on Zion from the draft.

But after his issue to stay healthy (sat out nearly an entire 3rd year) to only max him out on 2nd contract...was really bad idea to tkae that risk.

He sure was fun to watch play the game. Just not many people alive could do what he could do. Only wish he would’ve been a Wildcat. lol. Needs to hire a full time trainer and chef who would actually give a shitt and push him. If for some miracle he could get back and stay around 265-280 and get in NBA shape, he could really be special

I'm a Pelicans STH who is disgusted. I have given up on that bum and now sell/give away all my tickets. We suck big time! I sure could use some good news - like a win over Duke tonight!!!!!

That time passed now. Im talking about when he was a youth.
