My family and I are heading to PCB for spring break the first week of April. A couple that we are good friends with and their kids are getting a condo with us.

My friend and I have always wanted to go shark fishing. So I booked a night trip on a private charter for us to go. My question is, has anyone on here ever went shark fishing? What can we expect?

I'm super excited about it, and I would love to hear stories from anyone on here if they have been, or know someone who has been. Thanks in advance guys (and gals).

I don't talk about this much. Memories are sometimes best left in the past. But since you asked, yeah, I went shark fishing at night once...Didn’t see the first shark for about a half-hour. Tiger. 13-footer. You know how you know that in the water, Chief? You can tell by lookin’ from the dorsal to the tail. ..Sometimes that shark looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a shark is he’s got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn’t even seem to be livin’… ’til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then… ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The ocean turns red, and despite all your poundin’ and your hollerin’ those sharks come in and… they rip you to pieces...I don’t know how many sharks there were, maybe a thousand. I do know how many men, they averaged six an hour. Thursday mornin’, Chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player. Boson’s mate. I thought he was asleep. I reached over to wake him up. He bobbed up, down in the water, he was like a kinda top. Upended. Well, he’d been bitten in half below the waist...Well, that was enough for me. Plus, the beer was running low and we were out of ham and cheese sandwiches. So back we went. Night shark fishing. It ain't for everyone.

Feed the people who are taking children to Panama City beach during spring break to the sharks and then drive to Destin or Orlando.
You must not know too much about PCB. 20 years ago? Maybe. It's as family oriented now as Destin or Gulf Shores. We go every year at least once.

I know it is. And it ruins the fun for everyone else lol.
Went to PCB for my freshman and sophomore year for spring break of college. While I was there, there were reports of at least 10 girls getting gang rapped by dudes on the beach. It was getting very trashy. They needed to clean that place up.

OP, I have been shark fishing but not in PCB. I went in Cape San Blas, Florida. When we went, I caught 3 sharks. Longest one was around 3 feet. A little girl on our boat tour caught a 4 footer and it took her around 20 mins to real it in. Good times! I think you'll really like it.

That's awesome man. This charter won't allow kids to fish, only watch. I would be tickled with a 3 or 4 foot shark. However, gimme a monster and I'll be ecstatic!

I have caught 4 or 5 off Daytona Beach. The largest about 6 feet, most fight of any fish I have ever caught. Most of the time they will cut the line instead of landing them. My Dad and I kept one each and had them processed and brought them home. Very good eating fish if deep fried with batter, never had it any other way. You will have lots of fun for sure.

Sure do, we are staying closer to Pier Park at the Tidewater.
Yep, know where that is as well. Couple of guys caught a few dogfish sharks off that pier there when we paid to walk out on it last year. Those boys were catching those with some sort of bait fish, alive, about 7 to 8 inches long and kinda thin. I'm not versed enough on ocean fish to tell you what the bait's name was though. I have no idea about shark fishing but love to fish up here and good luck.

My sister use to be stationed at Tyndall Airforce base down there and seen some hammerheads. We were there several years back and seen a bull shark probably 7 footer in four feet of water early in the morning. Needless to say I stayed out of the water after that. We saw it from the balcony, not up close and personal.

Haven't done shark fishing yet, but I love going after the big stuff. Don't expect a ton of action....you'll be lucky if you land anything. If you want volume, go for speckled trout. Whether you catch one or not, tip your guide(s). If you do hook one, you might be in for one of the best stories of your life

Yeah, I have been deep sea fishing twice. The guide told me that the best time to go is mid summer, but with the crazy weather, we could have a hellacious trip. I don't care if o land anything, it would just be awesome to get one on the line. Either way, it'll make for a fun story.

20 years ago it was a free for all, lol.
Just had an old moment. I was thinking man I remember it being a free-for-all too and that wasn’t that long ago, I just went in 1998 (do some mental math...add this.... carry this....subtract this...) Damn! I’m getting old.
